Acerca de esta escucha

At the age of eight, Karl Popper was puzzling over the idea of infinity and by fifteen was beginning to take a keen interest in his father's well-stocked library of books. Unended Quest recounts these moments and many others in the life of one of the most influential thinkers of the twentieth century, providing an indispensable account of the ideas that influenced him most. As an introduction to Popper's philosophy, Unended Quest also shines. Popper lucidly explains the central ideas in his work, making this book ideal for anyone coming to Popper's life and work for the first time.

Dense biography of intellectual giant

Popper contributed to many aspects of 20th century philosophy - his language is clear, but - as with many philosophers since Plato - clear writings do not equate clear thoughts (although still much preferable to much written in continental philosophy). This autobiography - which a very well read! - is broad, focuses on Popper’s ideas rather than his life, and presents much interesting material. Only drawback is that Popper seems very content with himself for most topics -> I think I like the ideas of the man more than this aspect of the man himself. Often he give the impression tue discussion is finished with and by his contributions. Slightly less hubris would have been more in line with his philosophy, actually. But all in all: nice read (or nice hoots to listen)!

High-level summary of Popper’s work and publications

Useful as an index into his other publications that you might want to read, and how they fit together. Also some ideas finally clicked for me in this summary that hadn’t when reading his other writing.
