Historia
After decades of research, world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol S. Dweck discovered a simple but groundbreaking idea: the power of mindset. In this brilliant book, she describes how success in school, work, sports, the arts, and almost every area of human endeavor can be dramatically influenced by how we think about our talents and abilities. In this edition, Dweck offers new insights into her now famous and broadly embraced concept. She introduces a phenomenon she calls false growth mindset and guides people toward adopting a deeper, truer growth mindset.

They actually have vastly different styles and backgrounds. Yet despite their differences, great managers share one common trait: They don’t hesitate to break virtually every rule held sacred by conventional wisdom. They don’t believe that, with enough training, a person can achieve anything he sets his mind to. They don’t try to help people overcome their weaknesses. And, yes, they even play favorites. In this longtime management bestseller, Gallup presents the remarkable findings of its massive in-depth study of great managers.

What you'll find here is practical magic: unique knowledge, drawn from a variety of sciences, revealing what charisma really is and how it works. You'll get both the insights and the techniques you need to apply this knowledge. The world will become your lab, and every person you meet, a chance to experiment.

Historia
You don't have to be controlled by difficult people! Strange as it may seem, other people are not nearly as committed to our happiness as we are. In fact, sometimes it seems like they’re on a mission to make us miserable! There’s always that one person. The one who hijacks our emotions. The one who seems to thrive on drama. If we could just “fix” that person, everything would be better. But we can’t fix other people. We can only make choices about ourselves.

Historia
Most people who want to get better—at hitting golf shots, negotiating with clients, delivering presentations, or any other field of endeavor—seek out new information. They read a book, take a class, hire an expert tutor. But as Alan Fine has learned from many years of coaching athletes and businesspeople, this “outside-in” approach often doesn’t produce the results people want. More information becomes a distraction rather than a solution, and high performance remains elusive.

Historia
In The Myth of the Nice Girl, Fran Hauser deconstructs the negative perception of "niceness" that many women struggle with in the business world. If women are nice, they are seen as weak and ineffective, but if they are tough, they are labeled a bitch. Hauser proves that women don't have to sacrifice their values or hide their authentic personalities to be successful.

Historia
In today's world, customers don't want to hear sales pitches, but many salespeople still rely on them. In this breakthrough audiobook, Steve Yastrow, founder of a successful business strategy consulting firm, asks us to throw out everything we've been taught about pitching to customers. His advice: "Tear up your sales pitch and instead improvise persuasive conversations."

Good info wrong presenter
One of the things that make audio books effective for me is that I feel like I'm listening to the author in a one on one setting. Hearing the male voice of the presenter talk about his husband and almost crying after a troublesome conversation was distracting. Otherwise, good material. Nothing revolutionary but a new way of presenting it was enjoyable.

first reading is good. Now I'm going for a second.
okay I just finish this book. it was a very good read and I learned a lot. I'm going to read it again now. I'm going to read it a few times, because I'm interested in making these Concepts work. they really make sense. Perhaps it can get me out of some trouble I've created for myself by not understanding how other people, and myself, work

5 good tips that might improve your relationships
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Overall it is a good listen. The authors calls his tips "secrets". Every time I read or hear somebody call something a secret that ridiculous book of the same name comes to mind. So yes I would chance that.
His insights are not great specially if you read good books about sales before. But the authors wraps them well in a psychological frame.
In chapters 2 and 3 the authors describes Behavior Styles and Core Values, he describes each of them briefly and them proceeds to explain how they interact. But he fails to explain how we can figure out who fits into each category, which would help a lot. Instead the author hints that we need his professional advice on that. Meaning extra service and money on his pocket of course.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Understanding Other People?
The best "secret" of the book is definitely the best one "It's all about me". But I'll the details for who listen to this book.
Was Understanding Other People worth the listening time?
It's was. It's an eye opener but don't expect that all your relationships problems will disappear after reading this book.
Any additional comments?
If you liked this book you should read some sales books as well like the psychology of selling.

sound quality was off
For some reason (bad editing, perhaps?) the narrator voice would change in tonal quality and then go back to normal. it was distracting at times.
