Good assortment of cases

This is an interesting collection of cases covering many states. Most are fairly recent, with a couple much older.
Not all cases have been resolved but most have.
Narrator is okay, not my favorite. He's a bit robotic and mispronounces some very common words.
They broke the mold with Kevin Pierce.
I enjoyed this collection a lot. There are a lot of stories. Jack Rosewood is a favorite of mine.

One reviewer mentioned wondering why they liked true crime. I have wondered that too. as I detest any kind of violence and can't watch it on TV or movies.
However, I am interested in Psychology, Law, and police investigations. While this book doesn't contain any trial
material it's still riveting. In book/audio form it's more palatable for me.

Another set of fascinating yet terrifying stories

That's another strangely fascinating though at the same time terrifying set of stories put together by Jack Rosewood, stories that take the reader/listener deep into the darkness of the killers' minds and hearts... All of the stories in all of the three books will make you think twice about how safe you really are in what you think is your presumably safe neighbourhood - as no place seems to be beyond the reach of the horrors of cruelty, mayhem and death. But they will also leave you with a comforting feeling that there will always be people who will never stop looking for the perpetrators of the hineous crimes, no matter how long they will have to wait either for developments in science or coincidental breakthroughs in their investigations... And that's a really reassuring thought...

The interpretation by Mr Herschel J. Grangent, Jr. is perfect for the stories. He avoids the trap of putting too much emotion in the narration of even the most drastic scenes, he stays cool and objective, which allows the victims' stories to stand out even more vividly.

So, if you are interested in true, real life crimes don't hesitate and listen to or read all of the three books in the set. I just couldn't stop listening to them once I started...

Interesting

Love this collection.

If you’re looking to learn more about mysterious cases this is the true crime listen for you. The cases inside were mostly ones that I've never heard of before, but ones that I am looking forward to doing more research on. This book gives the basics of what happened in each case, who the suspect is, and other important information, but it doesn’t really go in depth. I would recommend this piece for someone who is just getting into true crime. Honestly, I had hoped there would be a bit more information for each. Still a great collection though.

Narration was steady and the cadence worked well with the author’s writing style.

I just love true crime books!

I am not sure why I am hooked on True crime books. I think its because i always want there to be a reason why people do these kind of things, and these books let us kind of look into to their minds.
this book has some good crimes in it. Some are chilling. some are unsolved. Its a good listen and i would recommend this to anyone who likes true crimes.
the narrator does a fine job reading this book to us.

Volume One

This was a good first instalment to Rosewood’s True Crime Stories series. It mainly focuses on cold cases, and some are honestly baffling, like the Palmer Brothers disappearance. The later half of the book focuses on the creation and uses of systems like AFIS and CODIS. It was good, it just didn’t hold my attention like other instalments did.

Rating = 3* / 5*.


Volume Two

I much preferred this volume to volume 1. It was a much more interesting read, and covers a few cases that last a number of years, and some cases that remain unsolved to this day. I personally like hearing about the unsolved cold cases because I could draw my own conclusions (be they right or wrong) about the case.

I really like Rosewood’s writing style. It is quick and brief, but it’s to the point. Having to write about twelve cases to fit two and a half hours doesn’t leave much room for massive amounts of detail, so it really feels like more of a brief synopsis of the cases, though in looking up these cases, some of them have barely any information about them at all.

Rating = 4* / 5*.


Volume Three

What I particularly like about this instalment of the True Crime Stories series is that around half of the cases are set outside of the US. I know the author is US based, but it is nice to have crimes set in other countries, and this had cases from France, Britain and Japan.

Some of the cases detailed in this book were really gruesome, and some remain unsolved. The amount of cases described in this series where detectives have to wait for scientific advancements is astounding.

Rating = 4* / 5*.

Terrible narration makes it horrible

I'm so bummed that I couldn't finish the book because the content is amazing but the narration completely ruins it for me. I really tried to stick to it, because again the content is top-notch and very thrilling but since it is being told in such a non-pleasing way, you just can't stick with it.

Really good!

This is a great collection of various true crime stories that quite frankly gave me chills listening to. It's crazy that these are real crimes that have occurred and I'm pretty sure I'm not going to sleep well for a month after listening to some of these stories. This is the perfect collection for anyone who loves true crime! Great narration!

Quantity vs. Quality

This is a good collection of many very short time stories. Each story was interesting but so short it seemed more like the summary that's put on the back of a true crime book to get you to buy the book. All the stories held my attention, I just wish there had been more back story. I received a review copy at my request and voluntarily reviewed.

An Excellent True Crime Collection

This is a collection of true crimes committed through the years and even other countries. I enjoy the research Jack Rosewood does for his books. The saying "truth is stranger than fiction" is so true here. Some of the cases are solved while others are not but all are unnerving because they are all true. I found the narration done very well. Herschel J. Grangent Jr. has a nice voice and reads at a good pace. I'm not sure why others find his narration horrible or difficult to listen to because I thought he did very well. Anyway, make sure to listen to the sample before getting this book to make sure you don't mind his narration style.
