Acerca de esta escucha
This amazing book describes how a young black man with learning disabilities, raised in a dysfunctional environment, grew up to lead, work, and compete in the marketplace as a successful adult. How did he do it? The answer is tied to his personal resolve in beIng resilient!
This book offers a call to action as Marlon shows how it is essential for the inner "Servant Advocate" in you to listen, act, and be stirred up on behalf of the nearly seven million disabled students in the United States of America.
Marlon's real life stories of triumph will encourage parents, educators, clergy, and employers like you to stay inspired and involved in the lives of others they graciously serve.
A shift influencer and pivot master Marlon Harmon holds a BA in Psychology from Carthage College and an M. Ed. in Leadership from Northern Arizona University. He was born and raised in Kenosha, Wisconsin, by his great grandmother (Big Mama). Marlon holds the honor of being an Eagle Scout and a Nominee of the White House Fellowship. He believes the most significant titles he holds are being a Licensed and Ordained Minister of the Gospel and being called husband and father.

We each have a destiny. Finding the courage to drive past the challenges, the pains, and even the shortcuts of life to the deeper purpose of living is to thrive in one's divine destiny. Most people have sensed destiny pulling them to just the right place or person. Whether it is the spouse you meet, the children you bear, or the promotion you receive, everyone has a purpose to pursue. Sometimes it is understanding our destiny that helps us accept what on the surface appears to be failure.

We all have a longing to be significant. We want to make a contribution, to be a part of something noble and purposeful. But many people wrongly believe significance is unattainable. They worry that it's too big for them to achieve. That they have to have an amazing idea, be a certain age, have a lot of money, or be powerful or famous to make a real difference. The good news is that none of those things is necessary for you to achieve significance and create a lasting legacy.

We need a fundamental shift in our values—a pivot in how we think, act, work, and connect. Despite what we’ve been told, the most critical mainspring of social change isn’t coalition building or problem analysis. It’s healing: deep, whole, and systemic, inside and out. Here, Shawn Ginwright, PhD, breaks down the common myths of social movements—a set of deeply ingrained beliefs that actually hold us back from healing and achieving sustainable systemic change.
