Acerca de esta escucha
How does an artist reach right into our emotions, stirring us to share the same feelings?
Or just supply pure joy to our lives with sheer exuberance and musical skill?
The answers are all personal to each of us.
This is my journey back into my musical past - This is 1970s England.
Music on vinyl that opened up a world of discovery - musically and personally.
My father died recently leaving a vast vinyl collection. I knew & had heard them all and he loved them.
It was a world of Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Bill Daniels, Kay Starr, Ella Fitzgerald ..... and many musicals
- I saw the love he had for these artists but it did not touch me.
The real seeds of my musical genres to come were sown by my grandma with her Lonnie Donegan recording.
I delighted to find that long lost album in my fathers collection.
This much played 10" vinyl prompted me to revisit my own vinyl albums
- Would they still sound as they did to my young self back then?
I have tried to be objective looking back fifty years.
I have put context of my life and that socially troubled time of 70s England into my writing.
I also add colour by using the experiences of seeing these artists live in concert
Please enjoy this time travel. It may resonate with you.
If not I would love this to open up a world of wonderful music and writing to you.
I start with my first purchase - Carole King Tapestry
