Yes, I will try another of Weis and Hickman, but I will avoid like the plague any book narrated by Ax Norman

What did you like best about this story?

The story is compelling but I will be buying the book and reading for myself.

After listening to the Chronicles series, this narrator falls so short, I couldn't even finish half of the book.

my favorite series ruined by an awful narator

What didn’t you like about Ax Norman’s performance?

I've been an audible listener for many years I have over 40 books in my audible library. This narator is awful. Most of the time when there are dialog between character you can't tell who is talking because he doesn't change is voice at all, even between a male and a female. But for me the biggest mistake.. between books of the same series that he all narated himself he changes his prononciation of character names and places. For me this shows extreme lazyness in the part of mr. Norman to not even go back to his previous work to keep a semblance of consistency. Its even more important in a fantasy novel because a lot of words are invented. He should have checked with the author if posible. Even if it wasn't he could at least keep the same pronunciation throughout the whole series.

Honestly, I'm still in the middle of this book. I am so in love with the story and the characters but I am seriously having a hard time finishing this book because of the terrible narration. In the beginning I would correct Ax, in my head, sometimes out loud, for the mispronunciations of names. Whatever... I can get past that. HOWEVER... there is NO change in his voice at all between characters, and I am finding it difficult at times to follow along with dialogue... who said what. I do figure it out as the conversation continues but it's really frustrating. I shouldn't have to stop and think: Who said that? I'm also finding myself gripping my steering wheel with pure annoyance when Ax (shockingly) adds a little volume to someone's line only to find out in the next line, the authors meant it to be a whisper or a murmur. Seriously? It totally ruins the feel of the moment.

I beg you to re-record this trilogy using Paul (Boehmer). His voice is the voice of these characters to me and I don't think I can go through two additional books with this narrator.

The narrator killed it for me...

The narrator needs to slow down a bit and I could not tolerate the lisp...the "S"s burned my ears for 15 hours...

Narration detracts from an excellent story.

Miss pronounced names are irritating. Tas and Paladine especially. Narrator eventually corrects Raistlin and Majere thank goodness.

Narration nearly kills it for me.

Caramond coming into his own.

How could the performance have been better?

He could of started with pronouncing the names of the characters correctly. Every time he says a characters name it becomes distracting since all you can think is, "that's not his name." All the characters sound the same as well. Little effort seems to have been made to differentiate the sound of one character from another.

Good story, poorly read.

Ax Norman left a lot to be desired as a narrator, VERY little character voice differentiation, mangled character names ( says Tasslehoff in full name but pronounces it Toss instead of Tass in the shortened form)

Badly needs a different narrator...

Pronunciation of the names. Emotionless quality. No real difference between the voices of the characters.

Narrator is horrid

I've loved these books for over 20 years, but the constant mispronunciation of names, nicknames and common words makes this almost intolerable. There are even instances where Raistlin's name was pronounced 2 different ways in the same sentence and Sturm is consistently pronounced Strum. Also, there is no effort made at all to even attempt to change voices for the different characters, so Raistlin sounds like Tas, who sounds like Tanis and Tika. It's honestly the most disappointed I've been with an audio book ever.

Great story. dude didn't do the voices like the guy from first trilogy. wasn't bad though.
