Acerca de esta escucha

Karen Knotts tells the full story of her father, Don Knotts.

Much has been written about Don Knotts's career, especially about his iconic role as Barney Fife on The Andy Griffith Show, but personal views into the man himself are few and far between. In Tied Up in Knotts, a loving daughter provides a full-life narrative of her father: Don's difficult childhood in an abusive home, his escape into comedic performance, becoming a household name, his growth as a feature film actor, his failing health, and his family life throughout, leading to touching and hilarious moments that will make the listener laugh and cry.

Those looking for a behind-the-scenes peek at the show, from the nuts and bolts of production to the hilarious pranks and heartfelt moments between the cast and crew, will see it all through the eyes of the little girl who grew up on the set. Knotts will delight listeners with the memories of celebrities touched by Don's life, including Ron Howard, Tim Conway, Andy Griffith, Elinor Donahue, John Waters, Barbara Eden, Katt Williams, and Jim Carrey.

Tied Up in Knotts delves beyond Barney Fife nostalgia to tell the life story of a man and father.

Interesting

I loved this, but it was occasionally confusing as regards who was saying what. I think it would make mor sense as a read rather than an audio experience. But I still enjoyed it very much.

Wonderful Story

As a huge Don Knott's fan, I loved hearing his daughter tell his story. sometimes it got a little confusing as to what person she was speaking for, but overall it was a wonderful story.

You could hear the pride in Karen's voice Reminiscent about her daddy.

Karen talking about her daddy was just precious! I've always enjoyed Don Knotts and just hearing about him...I loved it! I would catch myself smiling or laughing out loud about the things he would do.

her love of her father

I loved learning about the real Jesse Don Knott's. It was nice to hear that he was "just a real man", as well as a wonderful comedian and actor. Beloved by his friends and fans, but most importantly by his children. The best tribute is when your child writes such a beautiful book about you.

For diehard Don Knotts fans only

This reads like about four different manuscript types: part family journal, part children’s book, part “Hee Haw – style” memoir, and part movie script. And because it isn’t really sure which one it wants to be, it never really hits the mark, and the writing is all over the place. It is rather hard to follow, because it changes stories quickly, and unless it’s dealing with the Andy Griffith Show or Three’s Company, you’re never quite sure which decade you’re in. Karen Knotts apparently does a one-woman show, and I have a feeling that much of this is probably from her show, and it’s probably very entertaining in that format, since her friendly and singsong-type narration is very disarming. It just doesn’t really work as effectively here. There’s not that many revelations here, and if there’s anything that is a negative trait, it’s understandably lightly passed over (which you’d certainly expect his favorite daughter to do). This is innocent enough for Andy Griffith Show fans (with a little bit of Three’s Company sprinkled in) to somewhat enjoy.
