Acerca de esta escucha

If you laughed at the story about the Nagys in CORKED (from RESILIENCE by the same author), you'll enjoy this collection of stories as well. On the off chance you haven't read CORKED, we've added it to this collection so you'll gain a familiarity with the hapless couple's misfortunes. You may even see yourselves in these humorous observations about aging as seen through the eyes of Thad Nagy's wife. We begin aging the moment we are born, there is no slowing or stopping the process. In fact, for most of our lives, we actually look forward to those milestones that mark the passage of time; our first day of school, having a driver's license, graduating, getting that first job, and finding a life partner. Like almost everyone, at some point along the way, we set our sights on retirement and look forward to The Golden Years. A phrase coined by an advertising firm back in the 1950s, by the way. That's right, it was a sales pitch, people! Our entire lives, we have been surrounded by older people. They are our grandparents, our teachers, co-workers, healthcare providers, or simply strangers we observe as we go about the business of living. Some people retain their youth better than others, some age prematurely, yet on some level, everyone understands that they are growing older, so how can we be surprised when we look in the mirror one day and see our grandmother or grandfather? Even taking their misfortunes into account, Thad and What's-her-name have had a pretty good life. While aging has taken that youthful fervor that heedlessly moved them forward, that same process has endowed them with a more measured pace and clearer vision. That clearer vision, aided by bi and trifocals, allows Thad's wife to see that, no matter what, life is a gift. Oh, and sometimes it's a gag gift. Literatura y Ficción Ingenioso
