In at least two places portions of the story were read twice. Which was not an intentional part of the story. The story itself was good. But I don't feel that title was appropriate or related to the story.

Great story, poor narration

The narration was very distracting for me. The several characters weren't defined properly in the narration. It ruined the mood a little bit.
I liked the story and the setting.

Kind of short, but interesting and good story. I don't have the ability to think of more to say more right now.

The Warmer Collection, only from audible, is a collection of seven visions of a conceivable tomorrow by some thought-provoking authors. “There’s No Place Like Home” is written by Edan Lepucki, who has penned “California”; “People in Hell Want Ice Water”; and “Woman No 17”.

This is the third piece I’ve read/listened to about a future in which the author sees nothing but bleakness and a dystopian outcome. (Most recently “Anthem” by Noah Hawley comes to mind.) This little gem is 1 hour and 16 minutes. It’s genre categories include fantasy. I used to think of these dystopian stories as a bit farcical and a bit fantasy. Yet, it seems to plague the minds of some our more interesting authors. So, are these stories fantasy? Could it be our future? There are authors out there that are trying to wake-up the masses to the fact that if we don’t do something about our environment soon, and really soon, our planet will become uninhabitable for humans.

Saying that, this is NOT a diatribe on our current culture. It’s an idea. Author Lepucki uses a young girls voice to tell her story. Narrator Lauren Ezzo is the perfect sweet voice for this quick story. It’s also a coming-of-age story in that Vic, the protagonist, learns some shocking news about her father; he was not the man she thought he was.

I enjoyed this freebee. I would not have listened to it if it wasn’t free, which is a shame. This is a worthy listen, free or otherwise. Thank you GR friends Elyse and Tania for making me aware of this gem.

Loved it, Absolutely Loved it!

Edan Lepucki books are always a great read and this short story is no exception. I wish the story kept going so that we could have 20 plus hours to explore the world and all of the characters. World building finesse is 10/10.

The audio book producer did miss several blips of repeated words but as far as i'm concerned that just added 5 seconds of enjoyment to the book so. It's really such a minor thing im suprised anyone mentioned it.

Waiting and hoping we see a full length book in 2022. Thank you for this great story Ms. Lepucki.

Deep human foibles and survival

Interesting tale of family struggles, love and despair, set in a believable, dystopian future

DYSTOPIAN

The days of an uninhabitable Earth are numbered decades beyond our time. A bright young girl will never grow up as the harsh conditions will consume the unlucky people who lacked funds to escape the grim eventual reality. The story boils down to the girl's relationship with her recently departed Dad and answers she is trying to get from her Mom.

The only disappointment for me is that I wanted to know how and when the planet would end, even though it would have taken things beyond this intimately well written tale. Narration was excellent.

Great Story, Superb Narration

I really enjoyed this story. Even though the narrator and her family were going thriugh tough times, they were each trying to cope with the circumstances in their own ways. For such a short work, all the characters were very well-developed, and I fekt personally invested in all of them. Very absorbing story. I hope that someday Edan Lepucki expands it into a novel.

There's no place like home

Very interesting story, Audible was excellent and exciting. It really made the reading easy, and comfortable since I have been having problems with my eyes due to aging. Will always use Audible
