Acerca de esta escucha

Get a guy’s perspective on adolescent hang-ups in this classic Judy Blume novel, now with a fresh new narration.

“That’s an interesting way to solve the problem, Tony.”

Miss Tobin is talking about a math problem on the blackboard, but Tony is thinking about real problems.

If his parents or his friend Joel or Joel’s 16-year-old sister, Lisa, knew what Tony was thinking about a lot of the time, they’d probably freak out. About snitching on Joel, who Tony knows is a shoplifter. About watching Lisa undress each night and liking what he sees. About money and the changes money makes in people (especially his mother).

Hung up at 13. That’s Tony Miglione - especially this morning in math class in front of Miss Tobin, for everyone to see....

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Tony Miglione is perfectly happy in Jersey City, and looking forward to going to junior high with his friends, so he is not at all pleased when he learns his father's invention has made the family rich.... With a new school and burgeoning sexual yearnings to cope with, Tony is a troubled boy. Judy Blume does a fine job of seeing all this from a boy's viewpoint." (Saturday Review)

A walk with thirteen year old Tony

While listening to this audible book, I found myself thinking of my 14 year old grandson. Imagining what he is thinking as we ride our bikes, Tony gave me a picture of it. Without all the digital distractions of today, I enjoyed Judy Blume’s vivid descriptions of Tony’s teenage mind. He’s innocent, he’s making decisions, he’s facing the duality of friendships. He’s richly experiencing a young boy’s life.

slightly innapropriate

the narrator really did sound like a 13 or 14 year old like he was portrayed to be. i dont know what age he really is, but that was really refreshing because normally narrators are clearly adults and they are hired to read the parts of children and it mostly throws off the whole enjoyment of listening to the story. so good job!
the story being for kids was told in a cute somewhat funny way and so i actually liked it a lot. i could have listenined to more stories of what happened in this characters life. but a couple of the parts he told i could have done without hearing about. since it was a kids book they didnt really delve too much into the adult parts. in fact if i read this as a kid i wouldnt have even known what the big deal was. but being an adult i knew exactly what it was and i didnt want to hear it. it soert of almost ruined the whole book for me. i said almost.
but you dont have to listen to me. this was a boys story ad i am a girl. im actually a little surprised i stuck through the whole thing not really being able to relate much to a boys point of view.
the thing that drove me crazy was every time his tummy ached i thought for sure it would be an appendicitis and it never was. instead it was stress from worrying too much. i suffer from severe depression and anxiety, but i guess my apin hits me differently because i dont get tummy aches or need to take a oill for tummy aches. i take meds, but not because of tummy aches.
i am glad his bad friend finally got caught but was dissapointed no real time was served from it and instead he just got send to military school to learn his lesson.
i didnt mind him spying on his neighbor. no real harm done there i guess. dreaming about his neighbor isnt wrong either. even i dream about people from my past and if it gets werid i wake myself up because i finally realize its just a dream and itsnt real. but to turn it into a wet dream is exactly the part i could do without in this book. take that out and i can safely say i approve completely of the book.
finally being a girl and an adult i think that judy blume wrote are you there god its me margaret for the girls take on what a girl goes through growing up and then there is this book for the boys take on what they go through growing up. so its only fair that biys and girls have a how to guide book for kids t help them through their growing up years. i dont know if a boy would like are you there god its me margaret and i dont know besides me if a girl would ike this book. its completly up to the particualr read to read, give it a try, and decide for themselves.

Good read

Loved all the characters and kept me amused with all the family drama. Grandma was interesting and all characters well developed into each of their own stories tied into one. Makes you remember growing up
