Acerca de esta escucha
When the inhabitants of a peaceful world are conquered by the bloodthirsty yumens, their existence is irrevocably altered. Forced into servitude, the Athsheans find themselves at the mercy of their brutal masters.
Desperation causes the Athsheans, led by Selver, to retaliate against their captors, abandoning their strictures against violence. But in defending their lives, they have endangered the very foundations of their society. For every blow against the invaders is a blow to the humanity of the Athsheans. And once the killing starts, there is no turning back.

In Victoria on a former prison colony, two exiled groups - the farmers of Shantih and the city dwellers - live in apparent harmony. All is not as it seems, however. While the peace-loving farmers labor endlessly to provide food for the city, the city bosses rule the Shantih with an iron fist. When a group of farmers decide to form a new settlement further away, the bosses retaliate by threatening to crush the "rebellion".

Sita Dulip has missed her flight out of Chicago. But instead of listening to garbled announcements in the airport, she discovers a method of bypassing the crowds at the desks, a nasty lunch, whimpering children, their punitive parents, and the blue plastic chairs bolted to the floor: she changes planes—literally. Sita discovers entire planes of existence and visits societies not found on Earth—bizarre societies that share similarities with Earth's cultures and sometimes open doors into the alien.

From acclaimed author Ursula K. Le Guin, and with an introduction by Karen Joy Fowler, a collection of thoughts - always adroit, often acerbic - on aging, belief, the state of literature, and the state of the nation. Ursula K. Le Guin has taken listeners to imaginary worlds for decades. Now she's in the last great frontier of life, old age, and exploring new literary territory: the blog, a forum where her voice - sharp, witty, as compassionate as it is critical - shines. No Time to Spare collects the best of Ursula's blog, presenting perfectly crystallized dispatches on what matters.

Always Coming Home is Ursula K. Le Guin’s fictional ethnography of the Kesh, a people of the far future living in a post-apocalyptic Napa Valley. Having survived ecological catastrophe brought on by relentless industrialization, the Kesh are a peaceful people who reject governance and the constriction of genders, limit population growth to prevent overcrowding and preserve resources, and maintain a healthy community in which everyone works to contribute to its well-being. This richly imagined story unfolds through a series of narrated “translations” that illuminate individual lives.

Historia
The Einstein Intersection won the Nebula Award for best science fiction novel of 1967. The surface story tells of the problems a member of an alien race, Lo Lobey, has assimilating the mythology of Earth, where his kind have settled among the leftover artifacts of humanity. The deeper tale concerns, however, the way those who are "different" must deal with the dominant cultural ideology. The tale follows Lobey's mythic quest for his lost love, Friza. In luminous and hallucinated language, it explores what new myths might emerge from the detritus of the human world....

A must-listen collection, Words Are My Matter is a manual for investigating the depth and breadth of contemporary fiction - and, through the lens of deep considerations of contemporary writing, a way of exploring the world we are all living in. "We need writers who know the difference between production of a market commodity and the practice of an art. Developing written material to suit sales strategies in order to maximize corporate profit and advertising revenue is not the same thing as responsible book publishing or authorship."

But Tembreabrezi has a secret, a dark fear that is threatening the very life-blood of the kingdom. Hugh and Irena were led there for a purpose, selected for an impossibly hopeless mission. If they accept the challenge, they may lose everything - their new-found paradise, and possibly their lives.

A Five star book that I didn’t like
I rated this story five stars because it was very well written and engaging, the fact that I didn’t enjoy it is besides the point. It was gripping, but just the fact that there could be a future like this where slavery and rampant racism might still exist is really disturbing. I hope deep in my heart that we don’t allow this to be the case but knowing humans and their propensity for greed and lack of compassion for others it’s quite possible that it will be. Therefore, I feel it’s a good book worth reading if just to remind you and Me about the kind of future we may have we’re not better people by then.

I fell in love with this book!
The performance added so much depth to the story that a mer reading could not convey. The overall story is fantastic, a bite into the deeper discussions of humanity, belief, and insanity. Upon a first reading of the first chapter I couldn't bring myself to stomach Davidson's character and whether Leguin would write him as a hero. I found myself pulled in to know more as Davidson is a simple stand-in for major issues of white supremacy and western toxic masculinity. I could not recommend this book more to anyone! I love it and can't wait to discuss it more with peers and family. By no means is it a light-hearted story but it is a story meant to get people in touch with their environment and societal issues.

Avatar template with dome interesting ideas
Some interesting ideas and possible (not necessarily) alien humans culture hints, albeit it could be done in a much complex way in a much bigger book (or in a movie - Avatar...) in my opinion. The form is simple and digestible, good for children. Pretty weird place of women in this world, basically perceived as breeding stock for both opposing parties, maybe acceptable in 1976, but would be definitely commented upon these days and doesn't look like intention. Interesting is the place of drugs there, common stuff there for humans, weed is normal there like today is legal in many countries, kind of prophetic (like many authors novels are).
