ok book but could have been so much better.

I thought part of the portrayal of the tsar was right but there's so many more features to him they could have covered. his isolation and having no confidante, his physical isolation during covid, the sword of damicles hanging over him, his I information bubble and yes men underlings. there's also so many more events it could have covered wayyy too many to list. I'm supprised it used the sochi Olympics in this story that doesn't even make my list of important events in the story of the kremlin.

Hooked from the start. Beautiful writing and narration. A very interesting view from inside Russia of so much.
Excellent read. Will read it again.

Insight into dictators.

Pace and literary references, had to look up several stories to see if they were true and they were.

The best book I read this year.

Also, amazing narration. Don't expect a plot, it's a reflection, philosophical, poetic, insightful and beautiful. I am definitely going to read it on kindle as well and I rarely read a book twice.

Pleasant rumination on power

A short, discursive tale on the nature of power. Lots of insightful takes by an unapologetic Kremlin insider. Wonderfully read by the voice actor.

Terrific commentary

This is a terrific political commentary and analysis. Also very refreshing to not read a publishers formulaic book.
