The love stories of two couples with a mission

The Wizard of Odds is a lighthearted story peppered with humor. It weaves together the love stories of two couples — Midge and Ken, Barbie and Eldon — who embark a spunky mission to save exotic animals from the unlicensed, criminal dealings of a black market gambler.

Midge, the Massage therapist, has long honey-brown hair pulled up in the most severe top knot possible.. “I’m a professional. I read bodies.”

Her friend, Barbie, a young woman with an eating disorder, checks a date app, looking for a pudgy guy because she won’t look fat next to him. When she meets Eldon, “Barbie felt her heart flutter and her tummy tighten.” And he confesses, “We haven’t even slept together and I’m smitten.”

His co-worker at Alpha Indemnity Insurance, Ken, a workaholic data analyst with a sore shoulder. He falls in love at first sight with Midge during his first massage appointment. “She’s a looker. And with the most adorable snort I ever heard.” Meeting her propels him to completely change his life around.

He conceives the name for their mission. PUUP — Project Unique and Unusual Pets, because all four of them agree: although giraffes, cheetahs and orangutans aren’t exactly pets, they can be viewed as such if you feed them and care for them.
