Review

So ill start by saying that i love Elisa Braden, ive all the Ruined series and this series.
this book vas ok for me, I liked that Sabella didnt want gentle, and didnt want to change Alexander, she accepted him how he is and didnt try to gentle him, and she was naive but not that much that it would have been irratating.
I loved Alexander But and its a big BUT, I feel that I dindnt get enough from his pov, and for me it would have made a big difference in my enjoyment of the book if there was much more from his pov, for me its much more intersting the male pov.
Next, in this book I didnt understand the supernatural, the warnings and all that, becouse I felt that they didnt come to anithing, and I would have liked more danger, more action maybe.
It was hinted that what he did with her things would be a big problem, but in the end it was solved very quickly and almost with no problem, so there wasnt that heart gripping moment.
The ending was rushed.
And finally (I know that it maybe not a very popular opinion) but, I dont like the famele narration, not the narrator herself, but thats it famle narration, for me it would have much much more enjoyble if it was male narrator, much more when its big gruf highlanders, or a duet narration.
that for me 2 stars down ( I didnt want to take more, just becouse I loved the author)
I hope that the next book will be better, and that maybe the author would consider a male narrator
and I hope we wont have to wait that long, like it was with this book (2 years or so, its to long).

Saved the best for last

There is much this genres stories that is repetitive this one however has a gripping storyline. Well done!

Great Narration. I’ve enjoyed their story. My favorite is the first book. Love Annie and English!! I wish we could have heard more updates about the rest of the family.

Needed waaay more grovelling for forgiveness

I loved Sabella’s arc, from being abused by her brother and his cohorts, losing all her belongings/money, and yet persevering and working herself to the bone as Alexander’s maid, to the point when she knew her own worth and insisted upon her freedom. After hearing parts of her story in the prior books,
she deserved an HEA.

I did not love blockheaded, arrogant, total jerk of a horse’s patootie Alexander. I kept listening to him control her, manipulate her, and lie to her. He hid her stolen things, assumed she was as evil as her brother, accused her of sleeping with multiple men, constantly yelled at her, and called her daft and other belittling names. He never hit her, but the emotional cruelty and forced physical labor (where she kept getting injured) were awful. And, she just took it! Worse: she kept thinking he was such a great guy for letting her struggle as his maid.

I kept waiting for the moment when his betrayals were revealed and he needed to grovel, but when his worst offenses came to light, she barely had a minute of tears before she got mad, vented, and then *poof* forgave him because he offered her Os. Did he ever utter the words “I’m sorry” or admit what he did was wrong? Because all I heard was him saying his decision that Sabella was his meant he got to do whatever he felt was necessary to keep control over her. He did not deserve her.

Random thoughts: (1) the book mentions several times that Alexander has a beard and that Sabella
is 5.5 feet, which means the cover art is doubly wrong. (2) the narrator rocks Gaelic/Scottish accents and phrases, but the MMCs are begging for a male narrator. Without a male narrator, I found the naughty parts kind of cringe. (3) there’s no action to speak of, except some off screen danger where, per the author’s usual formula, the MMC goes off and handles the problem while the wee lass stays safe. (4) on top of the abuse Sabella suffered, there’s a late (and unnecessary) addition of two other women who suffer abuse from Sabella’s brother and his henchman.

Dislike this narrator. The story was good.

I’m sorry, I really dislike how this narrator makes the characters sound. I like Elisa Braden and wish someone else would narrate.
