Acerca de esta escucha
A gripping serial killer thriller.
An entire family is murdered and, by a quirk, a young girl is left unharmed. For 15 years, she believed the killer had been caught, and he's now on death row, awaiting execution. While trying to be content with her adoptive family, she's living in relentless uncertainty and the fear of remembering what really happened that night when she was five years old. She's The Watson Girl.
A therapist has asked her to participate in regression session treatments to attempt to bring back those lost memories. The closer she gets to the truth, however, the less time she has to remain alive. Now, the real killer is going to silence her, before she can remember the details of that horrifying night, when she was an innocent witness.
Laura Watson is young, she's beautiful, and she's a serial killer's loose end.
Join the smart, relentless, and short-fused FBI Special Agent Tess Winnett and her team in a heart-stopping search for the serial killer who has managed to stay hidden for many years. Explore the inner workings of the murderer's mind, and find out what motivates such predatory, blood-lusting behavior, while following every twist and turn of an existence spent taking lives.

With each step, each new finding, she uncovers unsettling facts leading to a single possible conclusion: Dawn Girl is not the only victim. Her killer has killed before.

right up to the ending....
I’m certainly not a critic but I have become an avid listener to audiobooks over the last little while. I just would have liked to of had the ending be a little more built up to that climax. I would certainly read another book from this author.

Superb Thriller
Any additional comments?
"The Watson Girl" is my favorite kind of thriller - a tight, intricate story, featuring strong female leads, tons of twists and turns and a very satisfying ending. Leslie Wolfe expertly weaves a tale about a murdered family, the lose end that survived and the killer that's behind it all. Typically I can guess where a book like this is going, but Wolfe left me wondering (and wrong!) on more than one occasion. Andrew Tell delivers a fabulous performance keeping me enthralled and bringing the characters to life. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a murder mystery story - this is quite a good one! 10/10

The Watson Girl
The Watson Girl
: Leslie Wolfe
A deep dark psychological thriller/ murder mystery with well developed characters. This is the second book in this series but the first I have listened to. I will have to go back and get "Dawn Girl" to see where the story began. I enjoyed this book with a strong female protagonist.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed by Andrew Tell.

Gripping Story!
Leslie Wolfe is a new author to me, while I have listened to Andrew Tell previously. I think both are extremely talented. I loved all of the unexpected twists this book had. I found the story to be original, and felt that the audiobook would be better than the print version due to the performance. I will definitely look for more books by both Leslie Wolfe and Andrew Tell. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and or publisher. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it.

"The quest for that perfect apple."
When Tessa, a damaged but dedicated and brilliant FBI agent with trust problems, is recalled slightly early from her enforced leave, her first assignment is to visit a serial killer, nicknamed the Family Killer. After years in prison, he is about to die from lethal injection having been convicted for the deaths of 34 families, men, women and children. She is somewhat surprised when he tells her that he was responsible for only 32. There was one which had been omitted from his list and three he had not committed.
Concerned that, if he had been truthful about this, there might still be an unrecognised killer on the loose, Tessa struggles to get the cases reopened.
This audiobook is a wonderful symbiosis of author and narrator. Whilst the story itself is good, it is lifted into excellence by Andrew Tell's performance. The book moves between a third person account of the investigation which evolves and a first person monologue by the killer, talking about his past 'achievements', his mind set and future plans. Tell's reading of this latter is eerily calm and creepy, whilst the other ongoing action is well paced and given the appropriate emotion as each character is given a clear and differentiated voice. The whole is an un-put-downable story of suspense as well as an intriguing glimpse into the minds of two totally different psychopaths as well as that of a completely obsessive cop.
My thanks to the rights holder of The Watson Girl, who gifted me my copy freely, without any expectation of return, via Audiobook Boom. It was very enjoyable, if a little harrowing in parts, not so much from what was written but from the images it conjured up. Anyone who has enjoyed the books by Thomas Harris (Silence of the Lambs) is sure to also like this book. Recommended.

The Watson Girl
Awesome! I can't say enough good things about this book...I loved it...it was captivating. At 5 years old Laura Watson, hiding in a clothes hamper, witnesses her family being brutally murdered. She is sent to live with her father's partner and remembers nothing about the murders. Skip ahead 15 years and Laura is asked to participate in something called regression therapy which will hopefully help her remember the killings. Although the cops believe they have the correct person in jail for the killings it become clear that they do not. We are let into the killers head as he talks to you about what he plans to do & how he plans his killings out. This was a spectacularly creepy book & I would highly recommend it as a read.

Will give you nightmares!
What made the experience of listening to The Watson Girl the most enjoyable?
It was creepy; it was like a movie, but better because I can make up the scenes in my own head! This is a book that will stay with you long after you've read/listened to it.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I loved Special Agent Tess Winnet. She is a fighter and a survivor. She doesn't take crap from anybody, she knows her job, yet she has this tenderness and compassion underneath it all. This helps her hunt down the evil serial killer; she is looking to protect Laura Watson and get justice for her family. She is such a strong woman, and I just admire her resiliency.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Serial killer doggedly hunted by traumatized FBI special agent.
Any additional comments?
I have been gifted an Audible copy in exchange for an honest review; this in no way affects my opinions. I am grateful to the author, Leslie Wolfe, for the opportunity to listen and review her work.
The Watson Girl is truly a 5-star read by Leslie Wolfe. She really knows her stuff and I believe that this book should be made into a movie! It is like reading a cross between a Criminal Minds episode and maybe Jane Rizzoli from Rizzoli and Isles. But even then, those examples of shows don't do Tess Winnet and team justice. The characters were well established, but I feel like they could have been a bit more fleshed out (maybe I'm just missing other books in the series where I get to know them more?) because I do want to get to know more about Tess.
Leslie Wolfe does a great job of switching between the killer's POV (without giving away who it is until Agent Winnet figures it out), Laura Watson, and Tess Winnet. I really enjoyed getting into the killer's mind and hearing his sick motivations. Ms. Wolfe does a great job of explaining all the terminology without dumbing it down for the more avid reader, while still being simple enough for someone who's never heard the vocabulary. I appreciated that there was a good blend of solid police procedural, forensics, and psychology. This novel was very well done with a lot of suspense. I was able to detect who the unsub was about halfway through, but I'm sure it will be a surprise to most people. There was one tiny little detail that gave it away pretty early on. I did feel like the ending could have been drawn out a bit more to add to the suspense; it was a bit rushed. Tess figures out who the unsub is, and then there is a rush to the ending; I prefer there to be just a bit more drawn-out climax at the end to increase suspense and excitement. I still highly recommend this book if you can stomach the dark content that is serial killers, as there is very violent content and language.
I listened to the audiobook, so I cannot comment on any spelling/grammar issues in the book. The narrator, Andrew Tell does a very professional job and does great at differentiating voices within dialogue, so you are never confused as to whom is speaking. This was a very high quality recording with no sound production or quality issues. I definitely recommend the listening experience, as it enhanced the story for me and made me feel like I was living in the story; I think it made it even creepier!
