Acerca de esta escucha
How many people would you kill to stop a war? It's the question burning in Cole West's mind as he and his Black Spear allies reload to leap once more into the fire.
A U.S. Congressman is killed in an American city, in broad daylight, by an unknown weapon. An undercover CIA agent burns alive during his extraction before he can reveal what he's learned. Bleeding-edge foreign military prototypes find themselves in the hands of organized crime on the streets of the United States. All of it leads back to a rogue weapons designer and the horrifying revelation that America no longer possesses the most advanced military in the world.
Black Spear's enemies are both foreign and domestic this time. Collaborators, saboteurs, and co-conspirators knife their way through America's political system to compromise the nation from within. Cole and his team are forced to turn to new allies when global tensions inch closer to the breaking point.
The clock is ticking for Black Spear to avert catastrophe, but their very effort seems in vain. With all its rage and all its fury, war is coming.
The entire world is primed to explode, and the Warmaker has already lit the fuse.

Raising Black Spear to new heights of action
Cole West used to be the F***ing New Guy, but even with half a year of experience in a black-ops squad there are more geopolitical war horrors ahead than he could have imagined. Continuing the story from book 1, there are new criminals intent on causing havoc to the world's established governments, and they have new methods to throw fear and devastation against their enemies. Jam-packed with even more action (how is this possible) and the perfect balance of technical insight and military jargon, The Warmaker takes us on another journey alongside Black Spear and its fearless soldiers. Once again narrated expertly with clarity and varied voices by GM Hakim (and, the proper long pause between chapters, in my opinion) this adventure is difficult to pause and heavy on the heart to finish. An excellent hero story for troubled times. [Disclosure: I received this title for free and listened at 1.75x.]

Nice amounts of action, thrilling danger, decent political intrigue and villains you love to hate.

Thrilling New Story
Benjamin Spada has turned up the intensity in the second Black Spear novel. The characters he so cafeully crafted in the first book are put to their greatest challenge yet. The narrator does a great job of breathing life into all the characters. If you are a fan of the genre, this is a must read.

Someone Brought a Knifeblade to a Nanobot Fight
A nice continuation from the first offering a mote modern twist on warfare and renewing the action oriented political thriller flavor. Here there is more emphasis on weird just short of science fiction weapons as a form of field and political power. There are some strong personalities here and that gives it a nice gravity with some character moments. Overall I enjoyed it but a little less than the first book, Warmaker has a hard hitting existential bend too near the end that the first book had more of in a transparent manner earlier on (action doubling as an ethical debate). It also felt like the main bad guys here were maybe a little too cartoonish even when there were some nice twists and turns to that. Well performed.
