Different style in good follow-up

This is the second book in the Brian Freeman Frost Easton series. It features the SF Homicide Inspector almost completely this round. In the first book of the series, he had a shared billing.
I enjoy the Brian Freeman and Joe Barrett team of author and narrator very much, with this being no exception.
The plot was a bit of a stretch, but I still enjoyed the story and was glued to my headphones until the end.

Even better!

This one was even better than the first book in the series. I am totally hooked. I love Detective Frost and his little tuxedo cat. Brilliant and fun to read!

Very good from start to finish. plus a few really good twists and turns! Will listen 2 more of his. Plus I love his book wasn't a potty mouth!

Great story but terrible narrating

I don’t like the narrators voice. Also his accents —particularly the light Australian accent—were poorly executed. I switch between reading and audio in many books and the audio ruined this one for me.

Excellent if tragic story

Brian Freeman writes another great investigative story. If you like his work, or character driven investigation stories, you should like this.

One caveat: it’s really sad. There’s sadness over the crimes and the fact that they’re personal to the protagonist, Frost Easton. But then we also have a romantic tragedy thrown in. One that I assume will be ongoing.

I was a bit surprised by the romantic tragedy in this story. Given the last few years I admit to preferring happier outcomes. Because Freeman writes a good plot, I will read the next installment of this series, but if the romantic tension is exploited too much, or I am again sad at the end, I’ll quit it.

The Best San Francisco Thriller I've Read

As a native San Franciscan, I critique any publication taking place in my hometown more harshly than it often warrants.
That being said, The Voice Inside, serves as an esoteric guidebook to the unique essence of our neighborhoods. In addition, the story is superb. White knuckles, unexpected twists and turns, made this a 10 hour ride I couldn't stop listening to. Definitely recommend!

One of the most creative mysteries I've read or listened to in a long time. While the narrator's unique voice is better suited to humor, he didn't take anything away from Mr. Freeman's great story. Buy it if you don't have an audiobook credit!
