The motive may have to do with a term paper that Geneva is writing about her ancestor, Charles Singleton, a former slave. Charles was active in the early civil rights movement, but was arrested for theft and disgraced. Lincoln and Amelia work frantically to figure out what actually happened on that hot July night in 1868 when Charles was arrested.

Loved it!
This was my second book by Jeffery Deaver. (Vanished Man was first.) I really enjoyed the narration and thought the characters were very well done. I enjoy the team of characters that Deaver has put together in the Lincoln Rhyme mysteries. They remind me of the old Perry Mason series. The narration is very well done and suspenseful. The audio version will keep you on the edge of your chair. Enjoy!
