Britain in 2075 is a dangerous place. A man known only as the Governor rules the country with an iron hand, but within the towering perimeter walls of London Greater Urban Area anarchy spreads unchecked through the streets.

Marta is their leader, a girl haunted by her brother's disappearance. Of the others, Paul lives only to protect his little brother, Owen, while Simon is trying to hold on to his relationship with Jess, daughter of a government official. Guarding them all is Switch, a man with a flickering eye and a faster knife, who cares only about preserving the legacy of the Tube Riders. Together, they are family.

Everything changes the day they are attacked by a rival gang. While escaping, they witness an event that could bring war down on Mega Britain. Suddenly they are fleeing for their lives, pursued not only by their rivals, but by the brutal Department of Civil Affairs, government killing machines known as Huntsmen, and finally by the inhuman Governor himself.

Lots of action

The Tube Riders Underground is an action-packed read set in 2075 Britain. When a group of misfits known as the Tube Riders witness something that could potentially bring war to Mega Britain, they find themselves on the run from the government killing machines known as the Huntsmen. This is a fairly long read but the action and adventure kept me going. Great world building. Recommend. Great narration.

a story that will sucks you in

this story started slow and I almost stopped listening but then it got really going and became a great story. I look forward to the next book.

A wild ride!

This book was slow to start for me but once it got going it was so good! Fast paced, good characters, excellent world building. Te author held nothing back and it was great! The narration took me a bit getting used to because of the accent but was great once I got used to it. My only issue with the narration was sometimes there was not a long enough pause between story changes and I would be confused for a bit, feeling like i missed something. Overall, I highly recommend it! I received a free copy for review.

Well narrated

I received this audio book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. I really enjoyed this book, I thought that the character development, was overall done very well, not just the main character but all of the characters.

I thought that the narration was well done, the speed and actually make you feel for the characters. I am hoping that the rest of the audiobooks in this series are narrated by him as well.

A great post apocalyptic world

This was a great post apocalyptic world novel, that kept me very engaged and excited to see what would happen next! I really liked the political aspects of the book, and how the author incorporated such a fun story intertwined with some deep messages illustrated by a totaliterian system. A great listen! I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Awesome Listen

Awesome!! This audiobook was well written and well narrated. The story grabs you and keeps you until the end. You really get the meaning of family in all that they do to protect and help each other. You have your hero’s, your villain’s and other supporting people who bring this story out. I really enjoyed this and hope to have the opportunity to do others for this author. Now the story has moved to France where our group is trying to do the right thing after escaping Great Britain. Chris Ward did an outstanding job telling a story of what could happen in the future. I almost felt sorry for a couple of the villains when I thought they were having a change of heart but they were selfish in the end, so not so much anymore. The narrator showed a lot of emotion when it was called for and did a good job with the modulation between male and female characters.

Absolutely Brilliant Dystopian Fantasy

At first, I found this book to be a bit gritty, but then I realized it fits the tone of the characters and the world in which they live. (There is a lot more cussing than I’m used to.) Once I got beyond that, this is a really great read with some very original ideas.
The story is set in 2075 - the not so distant future, in a government-controlled “Mega Britain“. I thought that was a brilliant spin on a not too unlikely scenario. That plays out really well in the story, as does the leader behind it all, The Governor. Talk about a real badass leader - not someone who I’d like to meet!
The Tube Riders themselves are a fairly motley bunch, but are street smart enough to survive in a harsh world. I don’t want to give any of the plot away because there were several twists that better not knowing about in advance.
I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator did a brilliant job. I really enjoyed listening, and there was good distinctions between the various characters. The pacing and intonation were excellent.
I look forward to reading or listening to more in this series. I would recommend this to action/adventure/sci-fi fans.

Good story, bad narrator

Once this story got going, I was riveted. The plot was really cool and inventive. The author created a truly scary dystopian England set in the not-so-distant future. The characters were well-drawn enough that I came to really care about them.

Hated the narrator, though. He didn't seem to be paying attention to what he was reading, using incorrect inflections that changed the meaning of words and phrases and mispronouncing words repeatedly. The voices he used didn't match the characters or the descriptors used in sentences. For example, he might use a whiny tone when the sentence said the character bellowed. So annoying!

Nevertheless, I think I'll have to get the next book in the series to find out what happens next. If, however, they didn't hire a different narrator I believe I'll read the book myself.

Down with the governor and long live the tube ride

Starts slow I mean real slow, but when it picks up you will appreciate the slow period cause it does not slow down again and you get an intimate look and Mega Britain and it's ugly underside and the young kids trying to fight for their lives and the life of all those around.
