Raw and Real

I LOVED this book. this might possibly be my most favorite female protagonist in a book, quite possibly ever. I identified with Liya's personality so much. Her trauma was so real and she was so resilient. Jay was such a lovely character and I appreciated his strength and understanding. It's a love I think anyone could admire.

The narration saved this book

I had to force myself to finish this one. I almost liked the characters. I almost liked the story. And I almost liked writing.
But, it just wasn't very good.

Refreshing Take on Enemies Turned Lovers

Such a new and refreshing twist on a cliche over done tale. The lense of this conservative and repressive community and its views of independent women made this diverse and witty novel a pleasure to consume.

The Trouble with Hating You

I picked this beauty up because it was a daily deal and I am soo glad I did because I LOVED it.
I loved Liya! She is soooo authentically herself even with all the hate she gets thrown her way. She doesn’t let it get her down. She doesn’t change course she keeps on being exactly who she is. Does it suck that she has so much hate thrown her way heck yes but she also has so much love too, her friends really are there for her. And she is there for them. I just loved her spirit.

Jay is charming but he also has a little bit of a chip on his shoulder. I kinda love that Liya doesn’t take it or accept it. She tells him like it is. He is fiercely defends his family and I loved that. I liked that any slight against his momma is going to mark you in the red from him.
Once the misunderstanding gets taken care of I loved how open his family becomes. They don’t care what anyone has to say about Liya they form their own options.

Sign I just loved this book, I went to grab the next book because I loved Preeti and figured her book was going to be next and it is but it’s not out for MONTHS!!!! Oh the horror. But that’s ok I found a new author & narrator I really like.

Speaking of narrator, Soneela was effortless to listen to, the male parts to the different female voices perfection highly recommend listening to this book.

It's Cute and Mellow

It's a cute love story with women empowerment mixed with a bit of trauma and how it affects her in her life through relationships. I enjoyed it. Very mellow. I wish there was more to it though.

Beautiful on so many levels

It’s hard to put words to how much this story touched me. It highlights the beauty and the ugliness of religious communities. The characters come alive through their backstories, flaws, strengths, and relationships to others. There are moments of joyous laughter and terrible sadness. Of anger towards abusers and rapists, and gratitude for those who stand up against it. It’s a story about sexism and oppression of women, and how it is possible to fight against it, to have respectful and loving relationships free of the toxic traditional gender roles that lead to such violence against women in this country and across the world. It provides a glimpse of Indian culture allowing non-Indian readers like myself to understand a little more of Indian traditions. I can’t wait for Preeti’s story to make it to Audible.

The raw honestly of what messed up people have to go through.

I liked it all. Performance, romance, and pain was very dreamy it made me want to have a Jay.
