Acerca de esta escucha
In "The Time Machine", Davis offers us both the story of the reunion and the collectively remembered story of his classmates' senior year. In 1962, Waynesville, North Carolina, was that small town where the school principal also served as a teacher, the football coach, and the Sunday-school superintendent. One classmate spends his time in the bar wishing for a time machine, so he can go back to his teenage years with his accumulated experience.

Storyteller Donald Davis presents tales from his high school reunion, told with all the grace, humor, and folksy charm that his fans have come to love. In his wonderful North Carolina accent, he shares tales of teachers, parents, classmates, and one famed football coach who taught him and his friends a lesson to remember. Davis' stories are a delight to listen to, and ultimately remind us of the powers of memory to inspire, uplift, and transport us back to the past.

Back to High School
This 26 minute listen is good, but not nearly as good as others by Donald Davis. Invited to speak at his 45th high school reunion, Donald ventures back to his hometown of Waynesville, North Carolina, to find that many of his classmates have made the "memory list". Always a sad part of high school reunions, discovering which of our classmates have passed away, the poignant reminiscing about those who have gone before us, the things they've overcome, their adult dreams realized, only to have them cut short, made for an interesting story. Tales about high school antics and the mischief they got into together were also featured.

The Time Machine is reflective
Boomers will relate to this story about a class reunion and reflecting on days gone by. The author also tells touching stories about those classmates, who have gone on, from this world.

Storytelling at its best
I am purchasing all of Donald Davis audio-stories — The first story I heard is still one of my favorites— “Listening for the Crock of Dawn “

We are all a time machine
A truer story was never told! We all carry our own time machine that can us back to any place in our memory. Some of us prefer the machine to reality. It is easier to live in the past than face what is right in front of us.
And the principal/teacher/Sunday School teacher knew all about us, even when we didn’t know ourselves. And he understood how important it was for parents to hear how wonderful their child was, not about all the trouble we created.
And when our time machines get together collectively, whole stories, with all sides being remembered at once, those memories are all enhanced. We carry our history with us our entire lives, for better, for worse. Those memories are what made us US. Sometimes they made us better, sometimes they broke our spirits. But memories are who we were, who we are and who we will become. I find it best to cling to the good memories and let the old ones fade away.
