Steve Case was on the leading edge of the Internet revolution when he cofounded AOL in 1991. He was an entrepreneur in a business that hadn't even been invented, yet he saw how significantly his efforts could change not only America but the world.
In The Third Wave, Case uses his insights garnered from nearly four decades of working as an innovator, investor, and businessperson to chart a path for future visionaries. From his position as an investor in start-ups like Zipcar and LivingSocial, Case predicts the future of the economy and describes what he calls the "Third Wave of the Internet". AOL and other companies introduced early consumers to the Internet in the first wave; search giants such as Google and companies such as Apple have led us into the second wave, the app economy; and the third wave will be "the Internet of things", in which every experience, product, and service will be transacted online. Using his own experience and examples from companies he's invested in, he lays out a vision for the future of success in a disrupted age.

An amazing boost forward!
Steve has laid it all out here for us. More than a blueprint or a flow chart, he has provided case studies and insights of rare air and from which we can chart a path forward. This book in a second step beyond Jeremy Rifkin's third industrial revolution and in an easier, more concise and palatable form. Thank you, Steve!

Interesting Perspective
This book is a mix of history, reason and opinion about the next wave of innovation. His points make sense and his reasoning seems sound. I also appreciated that the author performed the narration. This is a good mental exercise for creating the future. Check it out.

Must read for health care entrepreneurs
What did you love best about The Third Wave?
Before any "digital" entrepreneur spends time / money on a new solution, understanding from where we've come (waves 1 and 2) in important. More important, however, is understanding where Wave 3 is headed and building into the Wave and not behind it. The case for the third wave is well articulated and Case is one of few in the position to visualize where we're going (based on a deep understanding of the past).

Roadmap for the next wave of Innovation!
Love this book & was able to catch Steve on his book tour after the book launched. Great insights to offer strategy counsel on how to navigate the next innovations. I loved this business book! Great history lesson and advice on the future. Wish Steve was my mentor! At least this let's me get some good advice from him!

Inspirational
I appreciate that the author read the book himself.
The content is inspirational. His concepts and forward-looking message, combined with the success of our top rate. I would highly recommend listening to this book if you have any entrepreneurial tendency

Fantastic
The mix of personal stories and breakdown of the idea of "The Third Wave" was really engaging. I got onto this book and Steve Case after listening to his interview with James Altucher.
Highly recommend this book to get an inside view of AOL and a glimpse of the future and how you might position yourself to take advantage of what is coming.
