Fantastic book from Helen Fields!

Loved this book, the story and the narrators were amazing. I hope this series continues!

Solid story

I didn't have the same issue with the female narrator that others did.

Her voicing of the main female character was strong and distinct.

The story was well-crafted, and I thought it came together nicely. Some parts are a bit farfetched to me, but not overly so.

I will avoid narrator McCarron in future.

I gave the performance three stars, because there are two narrators. The male narrator, Robin Laing, is excellent. I wish he had read the entire book. The female narrator, Cathleen McCarron was irritating in the extreme. Her accents were poorly executed, especially the supposedly American accent. I also found her voice irritating, and her over-all performance sub-par. The book was greatly diminished for me. I repeatedly stopped the audio during the chapters read by McCarron because they were so irritating. The story is good enough, and Laing is very good, but I sincerely hope not to encounter narration by McCarron in any future audiobooks.

Excellent story, bad female narrator

I was struck by the negative reviews here as the author is brilliant and one of my favorites. Audible gives 3.5 stars yet, Amazon has 3000 5 stars. As I listened, it was easy to see why. The story is great, typical of the author, and Robin Laing’s narration is superb too. The female narrator’s voice is awful. The main character has an awful, grating American accent and makes the character come across as arrogant and obnoxious. If you can get past it, the story is worth it, but for some listeners, you might want to read the book.

Definitely worth the credit!

I almost did not purchase this as previous reviews stated the narrator for the female was awful. She wasn’t the best narrator I’ve heard, but she definitely was not the worst and did not turn me away from listening to the book. Overall, I really enjoyed it.

Love Helen fields, but….

I listened to this bc I’m all caught up w Ava and Luc. It had potential to be a great story, but it just didn’t grab me the way her other books have. Robin Laing is fantastic, as always, however, I HATED the other narrator. Blech. Yuck. No thank you. I was tempted, more than once, to give up on the book just bc of her voice!

What a disappointment!

I really enjoyed all of H.F. “Perfect”series but this new book was terrible. The character Connie was not likable at all. Very immature storyline for a Forensic Psychologist. The female narrator does not perform an American accent well. This makes Connie more irritating to listen too. HF made her obnoxious and vulgar which does not support her role. I won’t listen if there is another book with the same characters or female narrator. Robin Laing continues to shine!!
