Seizing upon the energy of the #MeToo movement, feminist activist Mona Eltahawy advocates a muscular, out-loud approach to teaching women and girls to harness their power through what she calls the "seven necessary sins" that women and girls are not supposed to commit: to be angry, ambitious, profane, violent, attention-seeking, lustful, and powerful. All the necessary "sins" that women and girls require to erupt.
Eltahawy knows that the patriarchy is alive and well, and she is fed the hell up: Sexually assaulted during hajj at the age of 15. Groped on the dance floor of a night club in Montreal at 50. Countless other injustices in the years between. Illuminating her call to action are stories of activists and ordinary women around the world - from South Africa to China, Nigeria to India, Bosnia to Egypt - who are tapping into their inner fury and crossing the lines of race, class, faith, and gender that make it so hard for marginalized women to be heard. Rather than teaching women and girls to survive the poisonous system they have found themselves in, Eltahawy arms them to dismantle it.

Phenomenal Book
Mona Eltahawy is by far one of the most eloquent, outspoken and straight to the point women I have had the pleasure to know through their books. Absolutely amazing book that gave me shivers. I am so inspired and empowered and I will be buying this for all my friends for Christmas this year... thank you, Mona, you are phenomenal.

Essential Read
I have been making a point to read (or listen) to important books on topics I care about this year. I started with historical books on the US as I live there but did not grow up there. Now as I transition into books on topics like feminism and social change, I find myself being so inspired! A good friend recommended this book to me and I am glad she did. I will be purchasing the hard copy as well. F the Patriarchy!

One of the best books for feminists today
Mona's book is completely relatable, interesting, well written, and her reading of the material is perfection.
I found myself saying "yes, absolutely, exactly, etc." out loud throughout this. It's an excellent takedown of the patriarchy, and I can't recommend it more.

LET US CELEBRATE WOMEN AND GIRLS WHO SIN!
"Fuck the patriarchy!"
It is typical Mona Eltahawy, same theme of fighting against the patriarchy, same signature passion, yet a dash more intense with the contemporary examples of patriarchy's violations even as recently as 2018. It screams "How the FUCK is this still happening?!"
I am ANGRY!!! And YOU SHOULD BE TOO!
