It Could Have Anyone

I just love Agatha Christie and everything she wrote, especially things that weren’t in my mother’s vast collection of her books and many other mysteries.

Two books deserve separate ratings

But since they are bundled together here, it would be unfair to take away from one because I find fault with the other, so … five stars

Chimneys is first rate Christie read by the excellent Hugh Fraser. There’s mysterious doings, a clever adventurer with a mysterious past, a house party, a humorous secondary character, secret passages, sinister warnings, all kinds of good stuff. And nobody reads Agatha Christie better than Hugh Fraser. He really inhabits all the characters so perfectly.

The Seven Dials actually does segue nicely, being set in the same manor house with a few returning characters. Unfortunately not read by Fraser, and the narrator suffers for the comparison. If read separately, it might not have been so bad; but it is also not Christie at her best, filled with bright young things sounding very silly and a plot that is a bit corny, as if it was intended for very young readers. However, it is saved by the very surprising ending. Trust me, you won’t see it coming.

Excellent Storytelling

Absolutely riveting story from the Queen of Mystery, Agatha Christie.
it was truly smashingly done.
I loved every minute.

Good once you get into it

Takes a little bit to understand the characters and all the politics. But after that, it’s interesting and entertaining.

Playful

I think these are the most playful of Ms Christie’s books. The mystery was secondary to the characters dialogue and interactions. Funny, well narrated, good plot!

7 Dials and Chimney's

good production. the mastering of the voices by the two dramatics was alone worth the listen.

Fun

What a nice surprise! I enjoyed both books but liked more the narration of the first one.

Ms Christie fools us again

Large cast of characters many of whom were childish upper class young adults. I could've done with less of their chitchat, but as the story evolved, and became more complex the great Agatha, Christie threw us a pleasant curve. For me, it was quite unexpected and enjoyable.

Suspenseful with great endings.

It is so pleasant to find really great characters in truly awesome stories with great twists and some good humor.

the narrator for the first book was so much better

I didn't enjoy the 2nd narrator as much. she was too over the top animated with her voices. just take a chill pill
