hilarious bizarro horror
The Secret Sex Lives of Ghosts by Dustin Reade is equally weird and wonderful. This bizarro horror isn't like anything you expected. Thomas technically died when he was younger. But survived, and ever since, he can see ghosts. To his surprise, ghosts are....awfully horny. His job is to kill problem ghosts. None of this story goes anyway you think it will. The mob is involved, ghosts....so many ghosts, STDs, sex, then drugs, sort of, and with drugs add the police. This was a wild ride from start to finish. I was fully invested from the first few lines, and it took so many turns that I got whiplash. I laughed out loud multiple times and just genuinely loved this story. As absolutely ridiculous as it was, I'd consider it a palate cleanser horror. If you want a break from the gore and brutality but still want to read horror, this is a perfect option. I could go on about this one for hours, but I'll spare you, pick it up for 6 just trust me.
The narration by Brian Jeffords was perfect. Somehow, it made funny parts even funnier, and the serious bits make you pause. You'll really just have to listen to it to understand. I promise I'm not leading you astray. This one is worth it.
