Acerca de esta escucha

A killer with a signature, a city on edge, and detectives racing against time.

For three years, the 'Rose Slayer' has haunted Los Angeles, leaving behind a chilling pattern: middle-aged women, living alone with their cats, executed with a single shot, a red rose left as a macabre calling card. But when the seventh victim is found with her fingers severed and her laptop missing, Detectives Bill Pawson and Sean Wells realize the killer is evolving—and the stakes are higher than ever.

Their investigation takes an unexpected turn when all the victims are linked to a popular online book community. Behind the screen names and reviews lies a web of grudges, egos, and unrelenting obsession. Suspects emerge and fall away, and tensions run high as Pawson battles his own demons while Wells fights to hold his family together.

In a final chilling confrontation, they face the mind behind the murders, unraveling a twisted psyche that blurs the line between genius and madness.‘The Rose Slayer’ is a gripping thriller that explores the dark side of internet communities, the fragility of ego, and the resilience needed to fight back against evil. Fans of gritty mysteries and chilling psychological drama won’t want to miss this deadly game of cat and mouse.

I am voluntarily reviewing a complimentary Audible version of this book, gifted to me from thr author through Story Origin.

I like the way Mr. Bentley makes these two detectives very human. I felt their struggles trying to find this serial killer. . One has an alcohol problem. The other, a family that he couldn't see enough of because of the urgency of his job. I had to deduct one star because, I liked that they a always gave each other encouragement and support, but the "catch phrases" they used were repeated over and over. I found it quite distracting.

The narrator was great. Steve Schaeffer presented this story distinctly and clearly. 5 stars for him.

Detectives are people too.

An exciting thriller for our time. Internet stalking and reviews for everything can be deadly in this newest release by Stephen Bentley. Two detectives are on the hunt for a serial killer named the Rose Slayer by the press. Old fashioned police work isn't enough to catch a break but the computer searches lead to a connection to an online book review forum.
I listened to the audiobook and liked the narrator. He had a good pace, nice voice, and kept the story interesting with his voice inflections.

Exciting thriller

I was entertained by all the twists and turns in this police procedural mystery. This was a story that I thought could be a headliner in today's news. I thought there was a definite aura of authenticity in the way the story progressed and in the characters' lives which wasn't surprising due to the author's actual life experiences. I liked the Detectives Bill Pawson and Sean Wells, and I felt they were realistic and personable. I enjoyed Steve Schaeffer's narration as his performance was entertaining. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

Great Police Procedural Mystery
