Acerca de esta escucha

What is a life of radical discipleship? At root, it means we let Jesus set the agenda of our lives. We aren't selective. We don't pick and choose what is congenial and stay away from what is costly. No. He is Lord of all of life.

In the last book by the leading evangelical churchman of the 20th century, John Stott opens up what it means at root to be a follower of Jesus. He explores eight aspects of Christian discipleship that are too often neglected and yet deserve to be taken seriously. Here, including the last public sermon he ever preached, Stott offers wisdom gained from a lifetime of consistent Christian commitment. In addition, he poignantly reflects on his last years of life and ministry. The message is simple, classic and personal: Jesus is Lord. He calls. We follow.

Sitting at the feet of the rabbi

Reading this book is like sitting at the feet of a venerable rabbi. Every sentence, every paragraph, every page is full of wisdom that younger Disciples of Christ should cherish and hold onto. John Stort has made a notable contribution to Christianity and we, his readers, are all the better for it.

Excellent

This was an excellent book on discipleship. I I am very appreciative of John Stott and his dedication to helping other believers more closely followed Jesus.

An especially timely book.

This book was an easy and meaningful listen. I do not hesitate to recommend it and exhort those who do so to consume it thoughtfully and personally. Its message should move us to retrospection and hopefully, action.

Concise...pulls no punches.

This culminating work by the timeless master of evangelical expression moves quickly into the heart of the matter. This is a short volume so I won't spoil the fun, but as always Stott's theology and application interwine to produce memorable and poignant understandings that gestate in the soul and resonnate with believers from all denominational backgrounds.

There is some recycled material from conferences, but to my knowledge it was previously unpublished in any readily accessible format. If you are like me, and can't get enough of Stott's wisdom and kindness this final installment is a must have. I can't wait until more of his works are available on Audible. His commentaries, especially those on Paul's epistles are deeply insightful, and he is no less so in "The Radical Disciple" as he explores the same question Bill Mahrer ponders on his HBO show...what does following Jesus really look like, and why aren't we seeing more of it?

Enjoy! "The Cross of Christ" or "Ephesians" are wonderful next steps if you are just getting into Stott.

Clear & compelling

This is perhaps the clearest and most biblical description of Christian discipleship in the 21st-century available in English. I highly recommend it.

Started out okay....

it started to be somewhat interesting and then devolves into climate change and other nonsense.

Not a book to make disciples

The title of this book is misleading. It is not about becoming an effective disciple, but spends time discussing the environment and the plight of the impoverished.
