Acerca de esta escucha
Greetings! Welcome to the Language Magic™ dual-language learning series. After you’ve learned the basics from the classroom or one of the many excellent language learning programs out there, it's time to get fluent!
The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran is one of the world’s most beloved books on philosophy and enlightenment. We hope that by repeated listening to the story, you gain wisdom and insight, as well as mastery of a foreign language.
We recommend you use the version of the story that leads with your native language, so you hear each sentence in your native language, followed by the language you are learning. For example, if you are a native English speaker learning Spanish, then you would use the English and Spanish edition.
It’s true that gaining fluency with a language is a big hill to climb. But it’s also true that there are different ways to climb that hill. The fastest way is total immersion. Live in country. But most of us can’t do that.
What’s the next best approach? Stories. Audiobooks. But that’s a struggle if you don’t know what is being said.
With our dual-language audio books, Language Magic™ bridges the gap between where you are and where you want to be. The story alternates continuously between your native language and the language you’re learning.
Get fluent the fun and easy way!
Discover that you can relax and enjoy the story while absorbing the language as you listen, and you can listen to it over and over until you find you can understand it completely in the language you are learning.
All foreign language translators, editors, and narrators are native speakers. Great care was taken with the translation to ensure fidelity to Latin American Spanish.
For children and adults of all ages who are learning Spanish.
Please note: This audiobook is in English and Spanish.

Historia
This book is a collection of Gibran's words on how to live. Here are his thoughts on what it means to live in community and solitude and what gives life meaning, along with his often prescient views on government, organized religion, wealth, and commerce. Gibran's sensibility feels contemporary. He did not recognize any ultimate authority outside of the human soul: "It were wiser to speak less of God, whom we cannot understand and more of each other, whom we may understand."

Kahlil Gibran's aphorisms, stories, and poetry on a theme remain among some of those best known to Western readers. His views, however, extend beyond the most-quoted "greeting card" sayings to a wide realm of human emotions and relationships - passion, desire, idealized love, justice, friendship, and the challenges of dealing with strangers, neighbors, and enemies. This little book captures love and life in all of their complexities and nuances.

The tales of The Silmarillion are set in an age when Morgoth, the first Dark Lord, dwelt in Middle-earth, and the High Elves made war upon him for the recovery of the Silmarils, the jewels containing the pure light of Valinor. Included on the recording are several shorter works. The Ainulindalë is a myth of the Creation and in the Valaquenta the nature and powers of each of the gods is described. The Akallabêth recounts the downfall of the great island kingdom of Númenor at the end of the Second Age, and Of the Rings of Power tells of the great events at the end of the Third Age.

Samuel Rutherford, born in the early 1600s, faced many hardships throughout his personal and spiritual life. Despite the criticism of his faith, imprisonment for advocacy of the church, and his exile from his beloved hometown, Rutherford was still able to inspire the people of Scotland with his preaching. Rutherford is still an inspiration in the world of Christianity today through the letters he wrote, some of which can be found in The Loveliness of Christ.

No other portion of Scripture has such power to reveal the journey of those longing to know Jesus like the "Song of Songs", Solomon’s great prophetic epic that Jesus himself sings over you. Historia
Paradise Lost, along with its companion piece, Paradise Regained, remain the most successful attempts at Greco-Roman style epic poetry in the English language. Remarkably enough, they were written near the end of John Milton's amazing life, a bold testimonial to his mental powers in old age. And, since he had gone completely blind in 1652, 15 years prior to Paradise Lost, he dictated it and all his other works to his daughter.

A dedicated group of Orthodox monks (who wish to remain anonymous) have created a fresh English translation of the Masoretic Hebrew text of the Psalter, corrected to the Septuagint. A frequently asked question: The Psalms aren't in numerical order in this Psalter. Why is that? Answer: That was done intentionally. This edition of the Psalter was created for prayer, at home or in church, rather than for reference. It's not just another Book of Psalms.

Historia
"Evangeline: A Tale of Acadie" is an epic poem by the American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, published in 1847. The poem follows an Acadian girl named Evangeline and her search for her lost love Gabriel, set during the time of the expulsion of the Acadians. The idea for the poem came from Longfellow's friend, Nathaniel Hawthorne. Longfellow used dactylic hexameter, imitated from Greek and Latin classics, though the choice was criticized.

Thus Spoke Zarathustra is one of the most extraordinary - and important - texts in Western philosophy. It was written by Friedrich Nietzsche between 1883 and 1885. He cast it in the form of a novel in the hope that his urgent message of the 'death of God' and the rise of the superman (Ubermensch) would have greater emotional as well as intellectual impact.

Historia
Samson Agonistes, the 'dramatic poem' by John Milton, was published in 1671, three years before the poet's death. Written in the form of a Greek tragedy, with the Chorus commenting on the action, it follows the biblical story of the blind Samson as he wreaks his revenge on the Philistines who have imprisoned him. A powerful subject, with a personal resonance for the blind Milton, it is a perfect work for the medium of audiobook where poetry and drama can be balanced equally.

A beautiful piece of literature by a great saint of the church. St. John of the Cross was a man in search of Christ, a true follower of the ways of God. By only simple observation, it seems that his entire life was swallowed up in the glory and majesty of God, and we have the great privilege of peering into that relationship through his written works. This is a book describing the search of a lovesick soul for her wonderful bridegroom. A truly remarkable spring for anyone desiring a deeper life with God.

Considered by Rumi to be "the master" of Sufi mystic poetry, Attar is best known for this epic poem, a magnificent allegorical tale about the soul's search for meaning. He recounts the perilous journey of the world's birds to the faraway peaks of Mount Qaf in search of the mysterious Simorgh, their king. Attar's beguiling anecdotes and humor intermingle the sublime with the mundane, the spiritual with the worldly, while his poem models the soul's escape from the mind's rational embrace.

And, since he had gone completely blind in 1652, 15 years prior to Paradise Lost, he dictated it and all his other works to his daughter.

Historia
Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) was a reclusive poet whose only friendships were carried out in correspondence. Despite writing almost 1800 poems in her life, very few were published until after her death. Here, the poems are presented in chronological order in their original form, unaltered by editorial revision, in one volume. It offers a wide-angle view of Dickinson's poetic development, from the clunky rhyme schemes of her youth, through valentines she wrote in the early 1850s, to the gloomy, hell-obsessed writings of her last years.

A powerful subject, with a personal resonance for the blind Milton, it is a perfect work for the medium of audiobook where poetry and drama can be balanced equally.

great for advanced learners
This is exactly what I needed. I understand quite a bit of Spanish when I read it but catch very little when I listen. Every sentence is spoken in English and then immediately repeated in Spanish. There are very few dual language audiobooks even available on Audible right now, of the few that I've found, and they are all very much appreciated, this one is my favorite because the narration is excellent from both the English and Spanish speakers, but also because it is translated sentence by sentence which makes it much easier for me to grasp as it is read. I hope that they make more of these!
