Acerca de esta escucha

As a female coach, I've always lived by a simple mantra: throw hard, swing for the fences, and never, ever look back—especially when it comes to past flames.

So when my ex-boyfriend somehow manages to land the job as my new assistant coach, my life is flipped upside down. The game I thought I'd mastered is now being played with a whole new set of rules.

My ex is baseball's all-star Nathan Pierce. He's tall, dark, and undeniably handsome. He's also all too eager to spend extra hours working together while flashing that familiar devilish smirk of his that still sends my heart racing.

Between playful teasing and lingering stares, I discover that Nathan isn't just here to work. He's here to rewrite history. Our history.

When fate throws another curveball that involves me needing a place to stay, Nathan offers me his spare bedroom, which sends me spiraling into emotions I believed had long since faded.

Now, I'm faced with the ultimate decision: keep it professional and continue fleeing from our past, or confront it head-on by playing the game he thinks we were meant to finish together.

Mental health I love the way it was exposed.

This book was really enjoyable and real. Had me in tears at times love the steamy scenes. Wish book one had more of that like this book did. Still both books are really good. This book really touch on Depression and fighting to find your sunbeam, which I love. I love the way the author dig deep with emotions that a lot of people deal with in real life. Also the narration was on point, really enjoyed and they made the book come to life. I love it when that happens, will be listening to this book again.

Perfect!

This book covered all of the bases. I love a second-chance romance and getting the chance to read Avery’s story. You don’t have to, but it helps reading her sister’s, Yara’s, story first. Nathan and Avery both have past traumas that bond them together and Brittany does a great job developing their relationship with care. I actually like this book more than the first of this series. I can’t wait to read Willow’s story!

Content warning: This book does cover tough subjects such as loss and grief, but handles it with compassion and a positive approach to therapy.

I couldn’t put it down. The journey of this book hits home in so many ways. I saw myself and my friends and it only made me love it more. Beautiful reminders of worth, love, and healing.

Nathan Pierce is my new favorite book boyfriend!

Story was great! It is sad at times, but overall great book too. I think Evan and Willow will be the next book! Can’t wait!

My Heart!!! 😭😭

I was not expecting this after the first book!! "The Problem With Dating" was, I feel, more light hearted, but "The Problem With Players" tugged at my heart more. They could be read as stand alones, though I suggest reading/listening to both.

Anyway, this book had me in tears!! I just felt soooo connected to this story and Avery. Then Nathaniel, not only is my husbands name, but reminds me of him too, which was the icing on the cake. It was heart breaking and warming at the same time. It's a second chance romance. 💕 Ms. Cherry has you cheering for many reasons during this book.

Wow! Really good story.

It had a heavier subject matter about mental health that took me by surprise. I had the book for awhile but kept putting off reading it. So I went ahead and purchased the audiobook. The story was great and the voice narration was beautiful and one of the best audiobooks I’ve listened to in a long time. They made this story so visible. Another great story by Brittany Cherry.

Beautiful story

Second chance romances are usually not my favorite. However, this story was so beautiful! The way the Nathan loved Avery was so heartwarming. I’m a huge fan of Cherry’s writing!

Sports romance

I love a good sports story. Avery was everything, Smart, strong, loving. She was the kind of person you want in your family. Nathan was so likable, strong, vulnerable. The chemistry between them was excellent. Their family was hilarious. This was a feel good book.

The fun never came

This was a well written book with fully fleshed out characters that I adored. The supporting characters in each MC’s family and the small town vibe were great. But, a book with a cartoon cover and a summary promising fiery spats between former flames having to work together should have been way funnier.

When I bought this, there was a cartoon cover. It now has a generic cover, but it still doesn’t match the contents. This book needed blue water color clouds and a title like Stuck In The Dugout. It was all angst, insecurity, and mental health issues. Avery suffered from depression, as in, she needed professional help. Additionally, her insecurities made her a huge doormat who put blinders on all the way up to her wedding day to a man who was obviously wrong for her.

It took 4 hours to set Amaya up to hit rock bottom. If I had started the book at Chapter 16, with the
MCs thrown back together, I might have been better disposed to the sweet, slow burn, second chance romance over the next 7 hours.

Or not. The fun never came. The heat never came (11.5 hrs and nothing more than getting to first base). Even the baseball coaching thing faded into the background of weighty life problems. If this had been sold to me as small town fiction, I’d have been receptive, but as a romance this was a swing and a miss.
