Going from teaching PK’s to having one in my family

Being a first generation Christian and engaging with God’s word has been the joy of my life. I was saved in midlife. And so I desired to learn the Word so that I could share it in teaching adults and kids. This book confirmed the needed correction I endured at the hand of my loving pastor after inadvertently holding his child to a higher standard in my class. That conversation changed my life, considering that I now have a grandson who is a PK. This book nailed the appropriate awareness all church members should have in relating to children of pastors. They are real people in need of saving grace, just like me. Thank you Barnabas for the courage it must have taken to write this book.

Very relatable and helpful

I was not a pastor’s kid, so I can’t resonate with every part of this book, but I was raised in a strict fundamentalist baptist church with authoritarian style parenting at home. So much of this book hit home and it helped to put words to things I felt growing up. It also helped me as a parent to see some mistakes I was making for lack of knowing better. I found a real faith in my 30’s and have some parts in ministry, so I am so thankful to have read this book while my child is still young. I highly recommend this book to not just pastors kids, but everyone in the church.

Very enlightening perspective

As a mother of four PK’s, I found this book to answer so many of my own concerns regarding how to interact with my children and their unique perspectives, which in this context is not so unique after all. I plan to have each of them, and my husband read (or listen) to this immediately. This book gave me the understanding/point of view I was praying for. I recommend this for all church members who care at all about the pastor and his family.

If you are church Elder, read this so that you can minister to the PK!

You should read this so that you know how to minister to them!

This book has helped me to understand the dynamics involved within the church and outside community of a small New England town.
I am so grateful to receive some validation for what happened to me and my parents.
I believe this book should be required reading for anyone entering the ministry.
