Acerca de esta escucha
Foreman James has always walked the streets of Old Mill, North Carolina, standing tall on street corners and booming his "story" to the world. Not many know where he comes from, or where he goes - no one knows the whole story. When an old, hand-written journal Foreman has carried since childhood goes missing, his carefully preserved world begins to crumble, and Old Mill takes notice.
When Cletus J. Diggs' buddy Jasper drops by to tell him how the crazy man was accosting pedestrians on the street, nearly got picked up by the sheriff, and drew the attention of one of the most powerful, and potentially evil men in 10 country miles, Jarrod Pope, Cletus is interested. You see, Cletus found a book that day - a very old book - and it has bits and pieces of a very personal, very dark mystery tucked into its weathered pages.
Can Cletus, investigator, common-law lawyer, journalist, ordained minister, and self-taught jack of all trades unravel that mystery despite the years that separate him from it before something very bad happens? Will Jasper ever get to go fishing? Will Foreman get his book back - and just what happened, decades in the past, when the old peanut oil factory burned down - the Day Jarrod Pope was a hero? Find out in the audio of The Crazy Case of Foreman James - the second Cletus J. Diggs supernatural mystery. Welcome to Old Mill.

The Necronomicon was not the first book by H.P. Lovecraft to terrify readers with tales of dark and twisted horrors from beyond. No, the Al-Azif, or Book of the Insect, is the first work that told mankind of Cthulhu, Azathoth, and other terrors. Indeed, it was the book that inspired "The Mad Arab" Abdul Al-Hazred to write its more famous successor.

Historia
When Marshall McEwan left his hometown at age 18, he vowed never to return. The trauma that drove him away ultimately spurred him to become one of the most successful journalists in Washington DC. But just as the political chaos in the nation’s capital lifts him to new heights, Marshall is forced to return home in spite of his boyhood vow. His father is dying, his mother is struggling to keep the family newspaper from failing, and the town is in the midst of an economic rebirth that might be built upon crimes that reach into the state capitol - and perhaps even to Washington.

Regulars at Nadia’s nature lodge don’t ask what she does in the off-season. And that’s a good thing. If she told them, she’d have to kill them. She’s a hit woman for a Mafia family. Tough and self-sufficient, Nadia doesn’t owe anyone any explanations. But that doesn’t mean she always works alone. One of her contacts has recruited her in the hunt for a ruthlessly efficient serial killer cutting a swath of terror across the country. The assassin is far too skilled to be an amateur - and the precision of the killings is bringing the Feds much too close to the hit man community for comfort.

I need more. I must have more!
This Cletus J Diggs Supernatural Mystery was a great listen!! The supernatural part does not come until close to the end but the story progresses quite nicely all the way through.
Cletus is a great character. He finds himself in possession of a journal and the mystery begins. Jasper, the another main character in this book, just wanted to go fishing. I loved this story so much. I'm currently trying to find more books hoping that this is a series.
The narrator was very easy on the ears. Even his seemingly dimwitted vocals for Foreman were a treat. Gah, I loved this book!!

Entertaining Tale with Larger than Life Characters
What made the experience of listening to The Not Quite Right Reverend Cletus J. Diggs & The Crazy Case of Foreman James the most enjoyable?
Well it was a combination of two main factors. Firstly the fact that the author wrote it in a more conversational tone like he was relaying his own experiences to someone. Secondly the fact that the narrator took that aspect and ran with it, giving it that kind of storytelling vibe that made it really easy to listen to.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Cletus probably, he fit the bumbling character with his heart in the right place to a T, and the interaction between him and Foreman and then the realizations that he had throughout kept furthering his character development while developing the plot.
What does Joe Geoffrey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He brings it a voice, and I guess that's a slightly unfair take for the author who certainly provides it as well, but the narrator takes it a step further, essentially to what I would assume was it's intended conclusion and makes it like a real story told on a porch in a southern area.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, but I only managed it in ~3 by the end, once it gets going it's hard to not get sucked in.
Any additional comments?
I received this in exchange for an honest review and found myself really enjoying it for the story, the narration, and for the subtle things that made the characters come to life and kept me coming back. Recommended for sure.

Great small town supernatural story
Would you consider the audio edition of The Not Quite Right Reverend Cletus J. Diggs & The Crazy Case of Foreman James to be better than the print version?
I can't say simply because I have not read the printed version. However I can say that I throughly enjoyed the narrated version.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the characters best. There was a simple but charming vibe from several and definitely a Forest Gump tone to a few. The author did a great job at creating the simple real world characters who were very funny in their simplistic natures.
What does Joe Geoffrey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I thought Joe was geat. Was the first time I have heard him narrate and he brought warmth and a good range to the voices he used for each character.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed a lot.
Any additional comments?
Good book, darkly funny in places. The author created a good setting with some good honest characters, made the supernatural elements to the story believable.

A Southern supernatural mystery with Southern charm!
My second book by this author.
But not an annoying cozy nauseating lit-chic southern book. And the last chapters is when the supernatural sheds its skin and rears its head in smokes and mirrors.
I really liked the characters. I connected with them and enjoyed the story as it unfolded. I wish there were more longer length audiobooks available in this series!
Recommended for mystery lovers who want an extra kick and thrilling conclusion!

Southern Suspense
An original Southern humor with suspense, enjoyed Cletus and Jasper. Held my interest, I had to relisten to a couple sections. Not the best but not the worst but worth listening to. I liked the 1st book better. This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBlast dot com."
