Acerca de esta escucha

The game-changing mystery that the Crime Writers’ Association hailed as the best crime novel ever written.

Detective Hercule Poirot is urged out of retirement to solve the murder of Roger Ackroyd, a wealthy widower found stabbed in his study. In the deceptively quiet village of King’s Abbot, potential motives abound - involving blackmail, revenge, legacies, and more - but they are hard to recognize amid so many layers of secrecy and misdirection...or they would be, for anyone but Poirot. Who’s hiding what, and which was the secret that ultimately provoked the crime? You can’t possibly imagine.

In her deservedly celebrated masterpiece, Agatha Christie outwitted critics and readers alike with a fiendishly clever denouement that still retains its power to shock even the most jaded mystery fan.

Revised edition: Previously published as The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, this edition of The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (AmazonClassics Edition) includes editorial revisions.

It is classic for a reason : you cannot beat perfection. Original, brilliant, innovative... you cannot add one word... or remove one. I envy those who are only going to read it!

A snapshot in time

Agatha Christie is the queen of crime. Ironically I read many of her books before this one. Glad it is part of the free classics collection since it is her first.

Christie's first story. What's not to like?

My first Agatha Christie book and I loved it. Never could figure out who the killer was. Can’t wait to read another.

Another great mystery solved by the likable Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot. The narrator, Tim Bruce, does a masterful job.

Another great Hercule Poirot story

I'm never surprised by murder mysteries but I was with this one. Narration is great! I can't think why some people left poor reviews. Some of the narrators are so monotone and ghastly. This actor was excellent! I'm going to look for more books that he has narrated!

Not what I was suspecting

Characters were a bit interesting, story was OK, narration was pretty bland. No I did not think the ending was such a great twist. First Christie book I’ve ever read and do not feel inclined to seek others. Goes against popular opinion l know; not a Hemingway fan either. Happily concede it’s just me.

Sorry but not impressed
