The dates are…sort of blah. It’s not Sidney’s fault; the folks participating are (mostly) great people, but there’s no chemistry there. Maybe Declan is just broken.

Or maybe the problem is that the only person he’s feeling chemistry with is Sidney.

This book was like a hug

Kris Ripper is an auto buy author for me. I was so excited to get an audiobook finally, I had it preordered. The narrator did not disappoint. At this story was as awkward and sweet as it was unique. The “love” was a in different but no less valid form. And it was the sunshine I needed in this turbulent time in the world. This is going in the favorites pile to be listened to and read again & again.

I enjoyed the storyline, very much.

The reader didn’t have enough differences in their voice, to tell the characters apart, quite a bit of the time. Perhaps reading this story would have been better.

Love makes it's own rules

I really enjoyed Sydney and Declan's story. Communication is key to love in so many ways, and that's more than just talking about how you're feeling and what your boundaries are. It can also be about deciding to gather what you want your relationship to look like regardless of any one else's expectations are standards. The Love Study illustrated that in a really beautiful way.

The narrator really takes this to another level! Good writing, good depiction of queer friend group !

feel good story and it has taught me a few things

I'd love more describtive sex, cause I'm a pervert , which is why this was the only deal breaker for me 😂

look at captive prince for example. it has all the sex all the feeling all the epic fantasy and battles, emotional rollercoasters all in one package.

So good books with a main theme of emotional learning, trust and self control can also have more sex without it taking away from the main theme 😊🙏

That said, this book actually taught me a few things. I had a mental breakdown recently in front of my boyfriend, where I told him I didn't want to become a vegetable and not be able to function in society. I just really wanted him to assure me he'd allways be there for me. He didn't, but I knew he would no matter what happens, and this book has taught me that talking about insecurities with your significant other is the most important thing you can do to stabilize a relationship and have trust between one another.

Living in a relationship I now realize should be an experience of getting what each of us want without having to make compromises on our own needs. I need more sex than my boyfriend does, we will find a way to fix this, because we can, but that will never make me leave him, only if he doesn't want to try to remide this discrepancy.
There are things he does for me, that he doesn't enjoy, hence forth I wount ask him to, or want him to do those things for me, and neither will I do the things I don't enjoy doing for his sake. We will simply have to find the golden spots that we both enjoy and spend our time together in those moments. While also exploring the things we haven't done yet and therefore can't say wether we enjoy or not. 😊

Lastly I really liked Sidney, cause he reminds me a lot of myself. I have been socially awkward for most of my teenager and early adult years. It gets worse if I don't go out or see people, but I often avoid seeing people because I feel like my awkwardness makes them feel uncomfortable. It's only with my boyfriend that I can be truly myself. I have other people too, but i can't seem to trust them enough even to I don't have any reason not to. I need to do something here, I don't know what's but the book also made that clear 😁 I'll just try getting out of my comfort zone more often, without getting myself in danger.

Wonderfully awkward, cute and heartwarming

I love stories about finding the right person / relationship after realising more conventional romance doesn't fit. I like how these two are awkward with each other while still respectful and how that helps them move forward together.
It was the kind of book I listened to with a constant smile on my face and it feels like a book I will return to for comfort listening. I already bought the second book and am looking forward to follow this group of people.
Also I can't believe it took me this long to notice Kris Ripper finally got a book on Audible! ...can I have The Scientific Method on Audible too then, pretty please?
