Acerca de esta escucha

This is the story of Joshua, a carpenter from the village of Nazareth who is called to preach the coming of God's judgment. This is the story of his ministry and its terrible end, seen through the eyes of his kinsman and closest friend, Noah the ironsmith. Noah, a pious man but one who understands the darkness of a world in which treachery and murder are the common currency of power, is prepared to risk his own life to save Joshua's.

Sifting through the tangled contradictions of the New Testament, scholars have arrived at a consensus about these events and their meaning, but the man behind them can only be brought to life through an act of the imagination. The Joshua of this novel - the Jesus of Christian faith - is revealed as a man like other men, a very human hero whose defeat at the hands of his enemies imparts to him a tragic grandeur.

The product of 20 years of research and a deep understanding of the ancient world, Nicholas Guild's The Ironsmith is a story for everyone who cares about the origins of faith and the mystery of God's relationship with man.

DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY-NEITHER HISTORY OR CHRISTIAN

I found this book to be offensive and a waste of money.Although I am a Christian, I’m not easily offended. Using Audible’s search engine to find Christian Historical Fiction The Ironsmith was one of a few selections listed. I was disappointed to learn it was neither Christian nor Historical Fiction. It’s just fiction that takes place in the past.

The story revolves around the friends and enemies of a character named Joshua Bar Joseph, meant to represent Jesus of Nazareth as purely human. It’s an interesting concept regardless of whether you think of Jesus as purely human or also divine in nature. But the author took an interesting concept and wrote a boring book.

Joshua Bar Joseph is a weak, confused character barely capable of rational thought. His life might follow the bare bones of the Jesus story but the sheer number of inaccuracies surely disqualifies it as Historical Fiction.

While the voice of Noah, Joshua’s best friend, is a normal baritone, Joshua’s voice is irritatingly high and sounds like he’s asking for approval at the end of every sentence, I wasn’t sure if this was a deliberate attempt to mock the Joshua/Jesus character the or just a sign of bad narration.

But I do know many people have found the life of Jesus supremely interesting for over 2,000 so it takes a lot of hard work to make his story dull and uninteresting. But this author succeeds brilliantly at doing just that. I recon-mend saving your money or your credit .
