Until an assassin sought to end that plan. It is said that Huey Long had designs on becoming a dictator of sorts. But those plans, if he actually had them, ended with his death. This is not only a whodunnit but a whydunnit, as the case has never been formally resolved.
Hermann B. Deutsch was a longtime newspaper reporter, who knew Huey well.
