This 1914 work is a polemic against competing theories in psychotherapy, directed at those who opposed his psychoanalysis. Adler and Jung, for example, had previously been followers of Freud but objected to his emphasis on sexual matters. The book is divided into three chapters, through which Freud threads a history of psychoanalysis from his perspective.

The failing grade for performance is by no means only the fault of the narrator. He and the producers or editors or whatever may not have known that the French and German names he was reading were pronounced differently than in English. Hence, for example, the comical rendering of the Frenchman Pierre Janet's (JA-NAY) name as the English "Janet". But other examples, such as pronouncing inchoate (in-co-ate) as "In Choat" really should have been caught by editors, or producers, or whatever.
