This story is about New Hope Pennsylvania. The narrator intermittently pronounces New Hope incorrectly. The mispronunciation distracted from the story.

Second Chance At Love

James Cavenaugh brought Tack and Vince to life and the other characters as well. I love there story, I don't want to give anything away but Vince is stubborn as hell... lol
Tack is a sweet heart. This is a must have for any book collection it's worth the credit. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Queer and cute

A very sweet second chance romance with a author that has a great sense of humor. There is sex in this book but it’s pretty mild. I do think the plot got a tiny bit predictable at the end but if you’re looking for a cute book with awesome characters i’d say pick it up.

Excellent story, but...

a very fun story very well written. but unfortunately it goes out of its way to tick all the boxes. it becomes politically correct. and especially when they're discussing the kid with the they them sometimes it's very confusing because it seems it may be talking about the father and the kid or the kid and someone else so there's a little confusion there. other than that it's a really fun story.

I almost passed this one by. I’m so glad I decided to give it a try!

Author and narrator were both unknowns to me. Now, I’d be glad to find more work by either or both.

A well-crafted story set in an interesting town. Suspend your disbelief. It’s fiction!

Only narration complaint I have is that the story is told in alternating chapters by the two main characters. Before the end of the book, it wasn’t always clear which character was in the lead, although within each chapter I had no problem distinguishing voices. Otherwise James Cavenaugh did what good narrators do — get out of the way of the story. He created believable voices for a range of characters and then faded into the background and let them tell the tale.

Happy I made this purchase. I can see myself listening to this one again one day.

Good story with lots of fmiliar characters

Enjoyed dome of the lovable exagerated stereotypes. Not as predictable as anticipated, which kept me listening.

Cute story, disappointing narrator

Cute story. Low angst, nothing to dramatic, a fun beach-read with a charming inn, a well-loved old truck, a precocious kid, and two physically perfect men who have loved each other since childhood. Don't really need to know more than that. However, the narrator was disappointing for one reason and one reason only. He did not differentiate voices between the two MCs. He didn't even try. It was exactly the same voice from start to finish, no matter which guy was speaking or who's perspective the chapter was written from. There were many times I got so confused that I had go back to the beginning of the chapter just to know who the POV was. He did a good job with the narrating aside from that. It was paced well, showed emotional range, etc. It was just the same dang voice no matter who was talking. If he'd made just the slightest effort to make their voices different, I'd call it 4-stars. But oh well.

The Hideaway Inn is a MM romance that is second chance and enemies to lovers. I was really expecting a sweet love story, especially after seeing the cover and reading the blurb. Instead, I got lots of angst and a very angry traumatized main character, Vince, who lashed out at every turn and the other conciliatory, doormat main character, Tack, who just accepted the fact that Vince was a complete jerk to him. There was a whole lot of anger being worked through and it was tedious at times. I really wanted to feel the love and experience that giddy feeling that comes with romance books and watching two characters fall deeply in love. I missed that.

I love inclusive books. I love when LGBTQ folks are represented without it being part of some sort of pivotal storyline. What I don’t like is when inclusivity is used to check boxes, and that’s how I felt when reading this book. We had gay, lesbian, bi, non-binary, transgender, various ethnicities, etc. I think the only straight character was the strict, religious, non-inclusive, white father. If it is meant to be a LGBTQ utopia, cool, I’m about that, but give them substance and don’t make it seem so intentional and contrived. The story with all the side characters didn’t convey as genuine or organic in nature and instead felt inauthentic. It was also very stereotyped with situations and personalities. Rather than getting to know the side characters, we only got their label. Their gender identity, sexuality, and romantic partners is who they were in a nutshell. I wanted more. I needed deeper.

I really liked the small town feel. I liked the fact that they had an Inn and they were creating a business together. I loved the farm to table feel and that Tack was all about sourcing locally. I liked the kid. They were cute. I loved the goat.

The narration was good and the narrator was easy to listen to. I won’t be listening to this book again though and I won’t be continuing on with the series. It just wasn’t my cup of tea.

This is a beautiful story of love, betrayal, forgiveness and redemption that had me nearly in tears more than once. I loved it.
