Great story. I only ding the narration

Easy to follow and context is good. I only ding the narrator because he reads the story to happily. His upbeat voice and speed makes the story and some quotes appear humorous when they are not.

good listening

Great story! the only thing I didn't like about it was that it went off on tangents a lot as to the history of the Philippines during the war. so on and so forth instead of sticking to the story. but other than that it was a great story

Wow!! Very powerful!!!

Please read this book!!! This is a must read!!! It took me two days to get through this book and that's because I had school and evidently had to sleep.. I had no idea about such horrors in the Pacific and the sacrifice and courage that the Alamo Scouts, ranger 6th and guerrilla Philippino fighters exhibited in rescuing the POW's Cabanatuan is something stellar. Gripping story and a MUST read!!!

superb in every way

This is another of those stunningly unbelievable WWII acts of determination and heroics. I had heard vague tales of some rescue or POWs in Philippines but sadly our schools gloss over it I am very glad to have heard the details.
I truly appreciate that the author informed me of the additional heroics of the civilians who tricked the Japanese to get supplies snuck into the camp. Miss U and all the others deserved medals for their actions.

GREAT STORY OVER READ

Great story, My complaint is on performance, There are actors who over act and there are sadly more and more readers who over do it. I do not like a phony Japanese accent is attempted when reading what a Japanese person is speaking, it is just not needed. The story is pretty good and overall a good book.

Heroes, the lot of them.

An epic tale from every angle. From the POWs struggle to the Rangers heroics, it was amazing. It was great to hear a small excerpt from a hometown hero (Capt. Stausbaugh 6th Rangers) in there.
