What Fun!!

A heroine overflowing with both sense and sensibility uses her skills with intelligence and bravado. There is not one circumstance she is not up to meeting ,nor does she once wait upon a man for either advice or rescue. A delightful romp of a romance and the narrator was spot-on. So good, that I several times thought had I been reading the print I might have put the book down, thinking certain points too unbelievable, but the narrator really carried the right tone, and carried the characters individuality remarkabley well.

Happily, this one was done justice by the narrator. Could have been better but by comparison to the last Heyer I listened to with a female narrator, it was excellent. No regrets with *this* purchase.
And The Grand Sophy has long been one of my favourite Georgette Heyer novels. It's utterly hilarious and, after the first couple of chapters, very fast paced; and with a cast of varied characters who become increasingly embroiled by the chaos that seems to follow the wake of the heroine (it reminds me a little of Sylvester, except with a confident and optimistic heroine)

This is such a fun and enjoyable book! I am glad I finally started reading Georgette Heyer.

Great character development

This was a fun read. The author’s development of the characters was excellent and it was hard to leave them at the end of the story. It held my interest and at times kept me listening when my intent was to only listen for a short time.

This is historical romance at its most refined. Enjoyable narration. Pass me my smelling salts please!

Performance worthy of the book

First, The Grand Sophy is one of my favorite Heyer novels, along with Venetia, The Talisman Ring and The Corinthian. It’s been suggested by another reviewer that this performance is inferior to one no longer available from Audible. Not a bit of it! The first requirement - that Sophy be warm, strong and altogether entrancing - is met splendidly and the rest of the characters spring to life just as well. Even the monkey!

Excellent reading, I could close my eyes and be transported! The variance of voices, and the humor of Georgette Heyers writing was heard throughout!
