Acerca de esta escucha

Welcome to the fabled Gold Coast, that stretch on the North Shore of Long Island that once held the greatest concentration of wealth and power in America. Here two men are destined for an explosive collision: John Sutter, Wall Street lawyer, holding fast to a fading aristocratic legacy; and Frank Bellarosa, the Mafia don who seizes his piece of the staid and unprepared Gold Coast like a latter-day barbarian chief and draws Sutter and his regally beautiful wife, Susan, into his violent world. Told from Sutter's sardonic and often hilarious point of view, and laced with sexual passion and suspense, The Gold Coast is Nelson DeMille's captivating story of friendship and seduction, love and betrayal.©2008 Nelson DeMille (P)2008 Hachette Audio Ficción Legal Suspenso Thriller y Suspenso Thrillers sobre Crímenes Ingenioso Misterio

Lo que los oyentes dicen sobre The Gold Coast

Con calificación alta para:

The Story Revolves Around The Contrasting Worlds Of Old Money And The Mafia, As A Wealthy Couple Living On The Exclusive Gold Coast Of Long Island Becomes Entangled With A Charismatic Mafia Don Who Moves Into Their Community. The Novel Explores Themes Of Wealth, Power, Family, And The Moral Complexities That Arise From The Collision Of These Vastly Different Social Spheres. While Praised For Its Witty Humor, Engaging Characters, And Unpredictable Plot Twists, Some Readers Found The Pacing Slow At Times Due To Excessive Details, And The Characters Or Events Occasionally Implausible Or Unlikable. The Ending, Though Abrupt For Some, Provides A Thought-provoking Conclusion To This Satirical And Darkly Humorous Tale.

Mr. Howell on steroids!!

DeMille has a way of not letting you put down his stories. This title was no different. It was a good read but I'm disappointed that Brick didn't narrate it though the guy that did was pretty good. This is a Mr. Thurston Howell III meets Tony Saprano novel. Written in 1990, I can't help but think that Tony Saprano was fashioned after DeMille's bad guy.

Great Characters, Good Story

The story is slow to develop, but by the time things get interesting, I really felt like I knew the characters. I was not satisfied with the ending: recommend listening to The Gold Coast and The Gate House back-to-back if possible.

Wow. What a great introduction to DeMille

My wife's favorite author, so I tried this one, at her suggestion. The ONLY complaint I have is that we are also listening to another DeMille that has a spoiler in it, for this book. So, I kind of knew how it would end. Still, a fun "read".

Another great Demille book.

I have read or listened to 6 Demille books. All were very enjoyable but maybe this is my favorite.

The fall of the fake old money empire.

The story depicts out of date values that Republicans in 2015 want back. They say they want their country back from anyone that is not a wasp. Gold Coast shows disdain for all people not just like them. As a result shows why the political divisions have a death grip on America in 2015.

Great read for all interests

This book is a little outside my normal genre, but it is by far one of the most memorable audiobooks I've listened too. It had me laughing out loud on a number of occasions and eager to keep "turning the pages" so to speak.

I would highly recommend it, whether your interest is sci-fi, mystery, action, adventure, inspirational, etc. This book is none of that, but you'll be glad you listened.

Excellent book, characters developed very well.

I read this book many years ago when it first published and really enjoyed it so I wanted to listen to the audiobook. I was not disappointed, well done.

Fantastic!

This is a fantastic listen and the narration was masterful. If you are easily offended, find erotica or ethnic slurs unfathomable, this book is not for you.
