a book of unlikable people

I really enjoy when someone writes about people without making any of them inherently good. the story was well written and the reader did an excellent job. I listened to this book straight through without getting bored.

Narrator was good

Really good and binged it but I have to say it was definitely a bit predictable however worth the listen.

Great book!!

Excellent story but the performance was lacking. All of the male voices were exactly the same. Also, it would have taken very little research to learn how to pronounce fraternity names. DKE is deek, TKE is teek, and Alpha Chi is alpha chiii. Very annoying.

What’s the author’s fixation with Spence girls?

Not a likable character in the book!

Just know, if you have to like a character to enjoy a book, this one is really not for you! Me? I just like well written, character driven novels - and this one has it in spades. Definitely a psychological thriller and interestingly enough, turns out just as you hope it will - well maybe. Each character is fairly well fleshed out, with your loyalties being tested as to who you think you like (well, got that wrong, didn't you?) and in the end, you'll question whether you really want to go to that next college reunion.

Loved this book!

I really loved this book, and the story it presented! I thought it was well thought out with great character development. I plan to recommend this book to more friends!

Deeply disturbing.

The narration by Erin Mallon was wonderful. Laurie Elizabeth Flynn's twisted story gripped me, especially when the reunion started. The book took a dark turn into suspense and mystery that had me hooked ... and disgusted at the horrible acts some people are capable of.

Cautionary tale. The ending felt justified!

Wow

That was a twist that I didn’t expect. Some reviews said it was the best book they’ve read in awhile and I agree. Wow wow wow.

Didn’t see that until the end

Truly awful people that I expected to change but didn’t. I loved the ending. Reminds me of some college experiences, just not as intense.

Kept me engaged, hated the ending

I find a mean girl situation entertaining but the way the story ended was a let down and ruined the story a bit to me.

There’s a scene that describes self harm in a good amount of detail that might be triggering to some so that’s the warning I have.

*TRIGGER WARNING*

I was basically addicted to this book all the way till the end, when the author finally makes revelations that I feel were way heavier than I expected. I think the story is great and, quite frankly, I can see it happening irl—I just wish the author was a little more careful with the topics brought up at the end and that we had a gotten a deeper understanding of Sully. I also wish we knew more about Ella and Laura because it kinda feels like there was more to their story. Also, the author repeated herself a few times, mentioning how people referred to the events as “dorm doom”, for example. These things don’t add to the story and make the book longer unnecessarily. What I really disliked and had trouble overcoming, though, was the narrator. She read the book as if she was reading a teleprompter in a live newscast! I do not get her intonation and lingering words at the end of every sentence (very annoying). She did make different voices for the characters, which is something I always appreciate. Anyways, looking forward to hearing other thoughts on this audiobook and story.
