Acerca de esta escucha

"Absolutely gripping… blew me away… Words can’t describe how good this book is." (Heidi Lynn's Book Reviews)

The USA TODAY top 100 best-seller you won’t want to miss!

The high chair lay on its side, a toy elephant and a crumpled green blanket scattered across the floor beside it.

“She had a baby? Is it-?”

“The baby’s gone.”

When Detective Josie Quinn is called to a large house on the outskirts of the small town of Denton, she’s horrified by the viciousness of the attack - smashed glass, splintered furniture, and blood spattered across the floor. The owner, a single mother, is fighting for her life, and her newborn baby is missing.

A beautiful young woman caught fleeing the scene is Josie’s only lead, but when questioned it seems this mysterious girl doesn’t know who she is, where she’s from or why she’s so terrified....

Is she a witness, a suspect, or the next victim?

As Josie digs deeper, a letter found hidden in the house convinces her the attack, the missing child, and the nameless woman are linked to a spate of killings across the county, and Josie is faced with a heart-breaking decision....

Should she risk the life of one child to save many others? Or can she find another way to stop this killer before any more innocent lives are taken?

Nail-biting, twisty, and impossible to put down. If you love gripping thrillers from Angela Marsons, Robert Dugoni, and Rachel Caine, you’ll be absolutely hooked!

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Anyone who knows me gets that I really like a strong, female, kickass main character and that’s exactly what I got in Josie Quinn.... The plot motors along at breakneck speed often leaving me holding my breath. I’ll be waiting impatiently for the next instalment." (Angela Marsons, best-selling author of Silent Scream)

Not a fan of the narration.

Book was okay. Slow and a little too long. Struggled to finish this one.

Story ok but narrator was very distracting

This narrator was clearly a native Irish or english(UK) speaker attempting (poorly) an American accent. It was VERY distracting. Would've much preferred if she'd just performed it in her native dialect.

Perhaps, I'm just thinking here, but maybe...

Maybe hire a narrator that is familiar with United States English! This Elidith Beating is creating an environment where my biggest attention grabbers are looking for her next mispronounced word! I'm only in chapter 4 but it's OBVIOUS this woman speaks British English. Tyvek suits are pronounced TIE-vek and an Ob-gyn is not an oven, it's an Obstetrical Gynecologist, or... perhaps to get Ms. Beaton to comprehend, a baby doctor. I apologize for sounding snarky but c'mon producers, certainly you can do better!

Nice story, horrible narration

While I like Lisa Regan stories the narrator was so awful I had a tough time paying attention to this one. Ms Beaton pronounced so many words incorrectly (anything pronounced ‘anathin’, Nike sneakers pronounced like Mike with an N to name two) I was constantly distracted. She’d accent the wrong syllable in words, the wrong word in a sentence. She had people being snitty in friendly conversations; Her inflections made no sense. This is the second book she narrated that I’ve listened to, thinking it wasn’t so bad, but it’ll be my last. It is just too annoying; not a pleasant experience.

Great Story, terrible read

I enjoyed the tale. It was intricate but well written. However the reading was terrible. There were so many mispronunciations that I wondered whether the reader was a native speaker. I’ve read two of Lesa Regan’s books and would consider reading more bye I don’t want to listen to Eilidh Beaton brutalize the English language.

What's up with the narrator?

The narrator's mispronunciation of simple words was distracting. Who says "et" rather than ate or Nike without the eye sound?

Narration terrible but good book

Love the series but the narrator is horrible! If I hadn’t already downloaded the next book, I would not!

Good storyline

Storyline was good, but the narration was less than desirable. I read the reviews, but chose to purchase because I liked the story. I should have listened to previous comments. Next time I will

Creative Storyline - narrator is annoying

This is a well written story. The twists and turns are creative. I enjoyed following along as Josie investigated the mystery.

What I didn’t like was the narration. Does this narrator not speak English as a first language?
She consistently says “anathin” when she should say “anything” and she says “record” to rhyme with Chord vs curd. She mispronounced so many words it would take me too long to list them. I just had to do my best to let it go.
Where did they get this narrator?
