Alluvian defeats one of the legendary Great Oracles in a game of strategy. The Oracle stares at him in disbelief as winter storms rage outside her secluded cave. The young man was brought to her by one of her dragons with the discovery that he is the last heir of the Yaga house, one of the nine people responsible for bringing magical Talents to the world, thereafter called the Pact Families.
