The Favor: Living a Meaningful Life is the fourth book in the series Living a Meaningful Life. The Living a Meaningful Life is a series for adults and teens of all ages. Each book examines the challenges involved in facing the harsh realities of life, and rising above them despite setbacks, mistakes, losses, and other negative circumstances. The Favor has a particularly meaningful focus on dealing with grief from loss, especially when you find yourself alone in life after losing someone closest to you. In this, the most pivotal and climactic installment of the series yet, the main character must make sacrifices for those who mean the most to him, as he faces life shattering losses; and must summon all of his strength, inner character, and utilize the life lessons taught to him by his mentors. He meets the moment for which his mentors have been preparing and grooming him. The Favor will leave you truly inspired to face your own life challenges, and will help you realize that you can overcome anything if you believe in yourself and "do the right things". There are lots of tears in this one, as well as plenty of laughs, and by the end of the book, you will be inspired by the eternal hope that life has to offer.

The Living a Meaningful Life series is a very long and epic journey following a character from childhood to late adulthood. This series is not just for idle entertainment. I'm a better person for experiencing this read!

As our narrator ages over the course of this series so do the experiences he faces, as well as the themes entering the pages. While our main character now finds himself residing in Los Angeles, an urgent phone call asks him to return home, setting off the course of events that play out within.

In author Brian Hunter’s fourth book of the series, death of some of his closest friends and mentors enter the fray. Characters we’ve begun to become close to leave the series, while others root themselves more firmly into our narrator’s life. And, throughout it all, “The Favor” embeds meaningfulness into our lives.

Loss surrounds this read as several pivotal characters in our narrator’s life succumb to death. And yet, despite this emotional experience, it’s what comes after their death where we learn the most. As our narrator is thrown into new responsibilities, new roles, and new perspectives, we learn the importance of those we surround ourselves with. As farm life carries on and characters from past experiences return, more grown up, we begin to get a sense of how our actions resonate.

Eric, Heather, and Jonathan blossom to the surface as each of them takes on new roles. Yet, as our main character weighs his life in Los Angeles to this new life he’s been thrust into back home, we remain entrenched in his journey.

Continuing an epic adventure, the Living a Meaningful Life series teaches both young and old. Hunter imparts on his readers such lasting lessons, life stories, and characters who begin to feel like friends.

The Favor so well written and emotional but also heart warming. I enjoyed listening to the author reading his book he does a great job at narrating.
