Riveting

I thought this book was great. I don't understand why others didn't think so. The narration was top-notch and it kept me on the edge of my seat. I finished it within a couple of days! She has truly become one of my favorite authors.

Wow! Great suspense!

Loved. the banter, suspense and plot twists. The narrator was amazing in her ability to jump between accents and voices of the various characters. A must read!

Review

Great story. Hard to get into at the beginning and takes a long time to get into it, but I kept listening and eventually it turned out to be a great story.

Wasn't sure at first, but ended good

I like most of Kristen Heitzmann's books. At first I wasn't sure if I would like this book, The hero whinned way to much. The story is intreging and ended up keeping me very engaged. I loved how everything came together at the end of the book. While not Heitzmann's best book, it is worth the read, especially if you like very clean books with "faith" as the underlying theme.

Great book

This is psychological thriller was fun, and the reader was decent, providing a fun listen.

I like that the vocabulary is more sophisticated than other books in the genre. It makes for a better read / listen. I also liked the labyrinth symbolism of the book and supernatural aspect to the plot. Heitzmann tied the psychological problems of the female protagonist (Tessa) to her understanding of God in a believable manner, even though there were fantastic elements in story. If God is “Our Father in Heaven” then it makes sense that our understanding of God would be influenced by our experience with our own earthly father.

I purchased both the Audible and Kindle versions. I liked the listen, but really, the read was a better experience for me in some ways because reading naturally lends itself to more thoughtful interchange with the text. I actually learned a few new vocabulary words in this one. Kindle is great because it has that dictionary feature. I also enjoyed learning about how a labyrinth was used in Medieval worship. Now I want one of my own!

My only criticism is that the characters sometimes acted in a stupid manner which was not dealt with overtly enough. I think this especially about the mistakes of the doctor. It seemed to me that his nearly fatal mistakes should have generated a different response at the end, at least a more demonstrative and honest one on his part regarding his own failures which did real harm (lies, assumptions, misdiagnoses). Otherwise, the story’s resolution was believable and uplifting.

Both Tessa and Smith had to grow up a lot and start acting in a more mature manner relationship wise. Smith learned to be less selfish and more of a servant leader while Tessa had to learn how to verbalize the truth about her problems and feelings. Both had to learn to forgive and think of the other. These are real issues in relationships so I think there is value in the story beyond the fanciful fun the book provides.

Recall Hmm not a bad idea

I enjoy audiobooks. But, this, just didn't work for me. The narration was ok but the story was blah. Didn't move enough to thrill or keep my interest. In fact Instead of wonder who done it and why I found myself grieving for the narrator how had to read this lost my daddy, think he's entrapped metaphysically blah, blah blah blah blah blah. Oh, and did I mention I have problems. Hate to be crude but I give this 2 pukes and a hurl.
