I devoured this second installment... I can’t wait for the third—to learn what Rin does next.

This is a masterpiece

I'm amazed at how efficiently the author is capable of sculpting the story and tug at my emotions. the story dragged a little TOO long in the first half but the ending was worth it.

I highly recommend this book. The author is amazing and the reader does an outstanding job! I wish more books could be like this. Be sure to listen to the first book in the series first. <3

Blown away

I really enjoyed the first book but it felt it was slightly messy in terms of pacing/ plot progression - this second installment absolutely blew me away though. It was perfectly crafted and completely sucked me in. The narrator’s performance was great too and I loved how distinctive everyone’s voices were. She really humanized the characters which made this morally grey story even more powerful. Can’t wait to go right into the third book!

Hesperians gonna be mad

I admit that Rin is NOT a likeable MC but I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish. These books are written SO well and you can get so lost in the narrative. Kuang is an amazing writer. I just want the next book I read from her to have a less irritating MC,

The Poppy Wars took about a week over the course of a road trip. Once we got back, I did The Dragon Republic in just a few days

Great Read

If you like historical fiction this is the book and even if you are just a fan of great literature you also have something of merit in R.F. Kuang’s Poppy war series.

Just incredible storytelling

This is my second read through of the trilogy and I am on the edge of my seat just as much as I was on the first go round. Simply incredible storytelling by RF Kuang and the audio performance is fantastic as well!

Even more exhilarating than the last one

RF King is a masterful weaver of war and fantasy. this is truely an excellent series. the stakes feel incredibly high at all points and the character development is not only realistic but brutal. brava!
