Acerca de esta escucha
The racial problems of 1962 have found their way to the small West Tennessee town of Humboldt. A white woman has been brutally murdered, and one of Carson's childhood friends has been accused of the crime. Carson's friend is a colored man who once worked for his grandfather, but the accusations and problems extend beyond the crime and to the heart of this small community. Carson finds a divided town; a town divided along the lines of race and the interference of outside groups, which makes this division even wider. Challenged with defending his friend, Carson must find a solution before the two sides collide, which would definitely have devastating results. Join Carson, as he faces one of his toughest challenges in the Crossing.

It was inescapably chilling, as if the murderer was methodically working his way down a page torn from the phone book. The three victims brutally killed in their own homes had one thing in common: They were all listed as M. Douglas. The fact that Mara Douglas is next on the list has her jumping at shadows, until FBI agent Aidan Shields shows up to make sure she doesn't become the fourth victim.

Historia
Four bodies, each with a single bullet wound in the back of the head, stacked like cordwood in a weed-choked vacant lot: That's the front-page news facing Carter Ross, investigative reporter with the Newark Eagle-Examiner. Immediately dispatched to the scene, Carter learns that the four victims - an exotic dancer, a drug dealer, a hustler, and a mama's boy - came from different parts of the city and didn't seem to know one another.

Historia
Madison is booming with dreamers and drifters, visionaries and entrepreneurs. Among them is Sydney Richardson, the daughter of a cop who died on these streets and now the proud, stressed-out owner of Hush Money, one of the city's top new restaurants. Like everyone else in town, Sydney is shocked when Madison's popular mayor - a crusty, charismatic man of the people - is shot to death in his own home. But the news hits especially close to home for Sydney because one of her own stands accused of the brutal crime. Sydney's the one person that Wanda Fields, a quiet, hardworking waitress and single mother, can think to call after her arrest.

prejudices kill
I liked that the killer got a smidgen of the same treatment he dealt out. What a twisted villain. It was very upsetting to see all the inequality and prejudices. Liz is one pushy broad that I'm really starting to dislike. She treats Carson like a child ordering him around, and the goof does her bidding for the reward!!!!! I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.
