Informative
I have read this three volume series twice, and now have listened to the audiobook series once. As someone interested in the War for Independence, War of 1812, and the Civil War, I found it compelling. The only detractors I find are Foote’s lionization of Jefferson Davis, his diminution of Abraham Lincoln, and his unfair criticism of Ulysses Grant’s presidency. Having been a product of the south, I’m sure this colors Foote’s viewpoints. But overall, it is an important read.

Superb History
A magnificent history by a great author. Having read the 3 volumes it was nice to revisit the narrative as an audiobook. Foote brings forth a pro-Southern view but if you've read McPherson or Catton you know the battles and the stories.

The Civil War
I’ve read the series at least twice. I found this to be a fantastic narrative, the telling of an overwhelming era in American history. Well worth the time spent listening to how the Civil War changed the nation.
The story teller, Foote, and narrator Grover Gardner are both fantastic.

A Masterpiece
Foote's Nareative is a masterpiece, more story than history it is an almost cinematic retelling of the Civil War.
Great performance as well, but the Reader's mispronunciation of well known Civil War names, places, and terms was grating.
