McCready's dignified British voice is well suited to this old-fashioned adventure story filled with the classic themes of resourcefulness, self-reliance, and courage. As McCready's narration skillfully illuminates the children's growing maturity and wisdom, the story becomes all the more satisfying.

absolutely wonderful! A favorite with my sons!
It is a story of children having to fend for themselves against the odds - a theme all kids relate and aspire to. Wonderfully historic and yet exciting and thrilling. My 11-year old son adores the story, and it is my favorite comfort story to go to when feeling out of sorts.
